waidmann 105
must it be a terrier? as a rabbiting dog there are better choices( i work a russel for rough shooting, ferreting, retrieving of small game ). as a pure rabbiting dog i would opt for a whippet or cross thereof. atb Quote Link to post
KAKA 10
russell x border cross Quote Link to post
lodgesmith 4
Whippet would be an exellent all round dog Quote Link to post
FightTheBan 1,147
Dont understand why you would want a terrier purely for marking rabbits. It will never be able to catch them when they bolt, then there is always the possibility of it going to ground after the rabbit. Why not get a wee whippet, beddie or collie cross lurcher, far beter allround dogs. Quote Link to post
Relentless 12
patterdale. NO MATE IWOULD SAY A RUSSELL Quote Link to post
max abell 196
It has to be a terrier as my other half doesnt like what she calls them skinny dogs I have tried to convince her about a small lurcher but she aint having none of it so its a terrier so i think i will look at a russell thanks for your replies Quote Link to post
roadster 2
I have a patt x russel bitch and cant fault her she'll work all day and is great with kids and other dogs and she will catch rabbits in cover. my mates dogs which are border x russel and lakeland are if anything better as they have more experience. Its not what breed you choose it how you bring them up and sociolise a young pup that matters. Quote Link to post
