FightTheBan 1,147
Problems arise when people let the winning of shows go to thier heads and start thinking more about pound notes, than digs. Most dogs around the shire are bred for hunting rossetes, not charlie. FTB Quote Link to post

Relentless 12
imo ALL WORKING TERRIER SHOWS SHOULD BE SCRAPPED FOR THE SIMPLE REASON AS PEOPLE ARE BREEDING NON WORKING TERRIERS OVER AND OVER SO THEY CAN GET A HANDY LOOKING DOG TO PARADE AROUND A SHOW RING WITH THERE CHEST OUT, NO OFFENCE TO ALL TERRIER CLUBS AND HOUND PACKS ETC AS THEY WILL CONTINUALLY PLEAD FOR PEOPLE TO ATTEND THERE SHOWS FOR INCOME TO KEEP THERE CLUBS GOING.. WHY DONT THEY JUST SUGGEST A RACE NITE WITH RAFFLES AND EVEN AN AUCTION EVENT 2 TIMES A YEAR RATHER THAN LET THESE SHOWMEN AND WOMEN BREED DOGS THATL NEVER SEE DIRT IN THERE LIFE. THATS WHY THERE IS SO MUCH SHIT GOING ABOUT TO THIS DAY , IM A GREAT BELIEVER IN PEOPLE WHO WANT TO SHOW THERE DOGS SHOULD ATTENT THE KC SHOWS. CRUFTS AND ALL THE OTHER SHIT Edited January 20, 2010 by Relentless Quote Link to post

tullyeyed 90
shows are a great summer pastime, surely there are dogs at them that have never hunted, so what, there will always be shows in the summer i hope, as long as poeple who do hunt and work their dogs don,t start breeding off show winners that dont work. runforyourlife 361
Seen some great working dogs winning shows. The judge can tell. not trying to be funny but how can they tell Because of the density of muscle in the dog. Even i could tell if a dog goes out every day. When you get to know lurchers you will get to know wether that dog just takes a walk in the park everyday, or wether it works on game and ruff land.... Infact, look at a long distance runner to a walker. Both are muscley but in different areas... You put a dog that chases big ears every other day. Stood against a dog that chases the ball in the park. The difference is obvious... Like i said about my Beddy( and i never beleived i would stand in a puffy show ring) in his 7 1sts last year 5 of the judges commented on his power and muscle. he goes out at 1pm every day of the week working, except for fridays, then workd both weekend days, because of my job, i can do..He out says all other lurchers apart from his own, and is still strong after 3 or 4 hours... when the judges told me he was a fine example and i should carry on, i wondered why. So i went and just had a natural stroke of a dog that he had beaten in 3 different shows around the country, and it was quite easy to tell what they meant..... the dog wasnt toned under its fur, looked good but didnt feel good.... hope thius explains a little, this is my thoery anyway... matulkoh 66
As a follow up... I have been breeding (and working) my own stuff for 14 years (before the theiving half breeds paid me a visit).......But i have never been to say, Middleton and paid £££'s for a dog all jagterriers with pedigrees which are used in breeding were at least on 2 shows. my beddy is champ of beauty of Slovakia, junior champ of beauty, club champ of beauty, junior champ oof beauty, he rereive several CAC, CACIB, BOB, CC, KV and what isthe most important he is hell of a worker and great producer but after several stupid talks from judges i stoped showing my dogs, just work them Quote Link to post
