Leather lined all the way.... 1st pair lasted 15 years before zips went....

 

on my second pair now paid about £250 for them 3 years ago...

Wow 15 years?? i'm well impressed, i can't imagine he wears them much then, I have had a pair of muck boots for about 5 years, and they are really good and warm, you don't get as sweaty as you do with rubber wellies, AAAND they are only about £ which is toms cheaper than a pair of Le Chams!! don't go for the avon style like I had first time round, as the soles are a blown rubber and wear down pretty quickly. I now have a pair of the Torray boots and so far they seem to be doing well, the grip on slimy clay is pretty good, super warm in the snow, or the Esk boots might be better for you if you do more walking on concrete as there are more points of contact so they'll wear down slower, unless you're really forging through briars or do a lot of climbing over barbed wire fences, Muck boots'll do fine, they're pretty resistant to pulls from blackberry thorns, and even though the rubber outer moulding had cracks in it and the neoprene has worn through at the heel, they're still perfectly waterproof!

I really wouldn't go for the "mainstream" brands like hiunter and Le Cham, I think they're overrated, muck boots do the same job if not better for less money!

Right bit the proverbial bullet today and got the neoprean lined zipped ones as i could not get my feet into the right size without the zip (high arched feet) and they seem great can't wait to get out with them tomorrow see how they perform

i got just the neoprene lined ones,no zips,i wear them every single day and walk miles and miles in them at night,1st class,watch out thow because my mate bought some from chattsworth this year and it turns out they started making them in the east instead of europe and the looked like cheap coppies to me even thow they wernt,this was a reputable stand at chattsworth country fair.in my experience the ones with the full zips get clogged up with mud and eventually they all fu*k up,imo ok for the lads going and standing at a peg on a driven shoot but not for the serious hunter,hope this helps,u woant go wrong with this brand of boot as your dad has proven.atvb

my local shoot manages about 4/5 shoot days/week per seasons,,,which i attend most,,,plus walking dogs... i pretty much live in my Le Chasseurs from late summer back to summer the following year.... leather linned are not sweaty, last forever...

when i was younger i could do a pair of hunters in, in 3/4 months...point proven.. atb... rich

I would have thought if arthritis was the problem, a pair of high boots would be the answer, far less movement and far more comfy. Either meindl, le chameau or black islanders.

If wellies, muckboots are about as comfy as you can get.
