There your dogs/son the responsibilty lies with you.. you should not of let the lad take the dogs out imo if you had doubts..

Mabie its you who has learnt a lesson as much as the child..

If anything happened to my dogs i would blame myself i dont let anyone else walk or work my dogs.

Agreed - did your daughter who also went with him have to contribute?

Also if I was the kid I would be wondering why you have to ask a public forum for an answer.

Your dogs your responsibility. Your kids your responsibility.

how much was vet bill

Up to now £180 but the leg is not healing so going to be more ..Please remember when voting this is his xmas money and wages for working really hard he is only 15 lollol

I would take the money and put it up somewhere safe........then give him it back when he least expects it. That way he will learn his lesson.......but you can repay his thoughtfulness as well

Rolfe, I haven't read though the rest of this thread, but after reading Tracey's original post, that course of action was the one that sprung to my mind.

I think the lesson here is... If you say something to your kids.. then you must mean it. Apparantley the lad was told 3 times not to take the dogs.... So who is at fault... The lad for takin them..... Or Tracey for not putting her foot down and meaning what she says.... GIVE THE LAD HIS CASH BACK.

hi

keep the money!

reason's

you asked him not to take them out! he didn't listen

you asked! him to pay some to wards the vets bill,( he didn't volunteer ) the money as a some peeps seem to think!

for him to give you the money, shows he knows he was in the wrong!

but fair play to him

i think he has learned a valuable lesson, when you work so hard for some money!

i think he will listen next time!

some times we have to be hard to be kind! to are own!

regards

Depends on how much 80 is to him I think. If he's got a part time job and is earning 30-40 quid a week, then yes take it all as a lesson. If he has saved it over a long time I personally would take a part not all, because he's already showing more responsibility than most adults simply by saving.

Kids, especially boys, need to learn from their mistakes and as long as he does learn it will be a good lesson, but parents should show compassion. You'll be a bigger person in his eyes if you show him some in my opinion.

I'd give it back sometime in the future!! dog fights can happen anytime even between kennel-mates:blink: I know your angry but the lads a credit to you  , he's shown a degree of maturity and integrity in accepting responsibility for whats happened by giving you his cash

He's also learned a valuble lesson? he'll take more heed of what you say in the future because of whats happened.

I've got two lads, one of 23 and one of 27 and if they had made an offer or gave me cash at the age of 15 years for something like this I'd be well chuffed:boogie: it show's the lads remindfull and respectfull of his parents as well as upstanding

I've voted the laddie become's financially solvent again :D

Tom

Ps: The kid might surprise you and refuse an offer of taking the money back?? (an even bigger bonus)

Pps: some kids do a lot worse!!!!!!!!!!!!
