Weirauch Hw77 .22 power

Recommended Posts

Hi guys , does any one know what 230 m/s is in ft/lb. As British Air rifle power levels aren`t supposed to exceed 12ft/lb and i want to bring my weirauch hw77 over from Portugal, I need to know if it`s under, to put it on a flight. I called BSAC and they recommend getting it chronometer tested. As Portugal is so behind the rest of the modern world, this might not be possible. They recommend this due to air rifles purchased in the EU having possible higher power levels and it not being restricted,as in the uk. Now i`ve checked Weirauch web site:technical info ,and .22 cal HW77 has a velocity of 230 meters per second m/s.So i`m going with that...

Cheers

I am thinking something is wrong here as 230 mps with a 16 grain pellet is roughly 20 ft/lbs these rifles are sold by weihrauch and there is no mention of them being fac I have had two weihrauchs straight out of the box and one was putting out just over 10 ft/lbs and the other was nearly 12 with a 16 grain pellet.

Where in portugal are you as I know a few people there who may be able to help you.

All the best 410Phil

Thanks mate for your advice.Holy ....,I didn`t expect that. I`m in the Algarve, close to Faro.18 TO 20 ft/lbs doesn`t sound real ,I know.Now I am confused.

You asked this a little while back. An export spec 77 will give around 18ft-lb.

All you need to do is fit a UK spec spring. There is no other difference.

Cheers.

Is that" no other difference in power"? I`m just wondering that if i do that, i may be decreasing the ability of the rifle in some way.Surely if the manufacturers saw 12ft/lbs spring suitable ,wouldn`t they have put one in?I`m quite confused now. Sorry Bud

I'm going say its over 12 ft/lb

google says 230 metres = 754.5.. feet

you can do the rest of the math here

http://extorian.co.uk/shooting/pellets.html

obviously you'll never realy know unless you use a chronometer

Thanks mate. Will check that up.Sounds like 18 to 20ft/lbs,surely that would affect the tradjectory of the pellet, thus increasing inaccuracy.Just doesn`t sound realistic.Yes 755 feet is what the american sites say,I suppose they don`t` have limmits either.

You have a full power 77 that was made for markets with no power restrictions so you need to reduce the gun's power to comply with the UK's limit of 12ft-lbs.

To do that you'll need to fit a UK!!!! spec spring as it's a little weaker than the standard one that HW fit for countries with a higher, or no power limit for airguns.

:wallbash:

Edit... It's the main-spring that dictates your gun's power in this instance, so that's all you have to change.

I´ve been using Gammo Magnum .22 today, and if I CAN SAVE SOME OTHER POOR SOD from parting with their hard cash for nothing, then take my advice. You`d be better throwing your tin of pellets at the target,at least you might hit something!Lots of way off wandering shots from a fixed prone shot.Quite MIFFED. Pellet grain 15.6.Grouping at 30m 400mm.Feel like shelling out on a HW100T NOW.Must conquer my springer first though.Hey ZINI you seem like a respected bloke , what dya think , or am i just suffering Bad Day Out Blues.Dya rate the HW100.
