jrt 0
well i dont think it makes him a nob just cos when he takes his collie out he takes his terrier aswell and it happens to catch the odd one! Quote Link to post
Hob&Jill 258
Dont see a problem myself as long as your not fecking up other peoples ground i.e. making them lamp shy. The point is that its good exercise for the dog, gives the dog abit of 'work' even if its not conventional lol not everyone can own a lurcher at least hes making the most of what hes got and dosent have a spoilt fat pot bellied terrier like you many you see with pet owners. david2363 42
I know a lad who lamps his Bedlington (successfully). But the thought of a small dog, which could go to ground, running around in the dark, leaves me cold. Quote Link to post
Malt 379
Best do it on a very, very windy night when the rabbits will squat, you'll never get more than the odd one, but it's a laugh. My mate's little 10 1/2 inch JRT caught one a few weeks back out for a mooch with a lamp, and I've done it with mine before now for the craic. It's a laugh nothing more. Too silly for some of the serious, hardcore 110% hunters on here buy the looks of it.... Quote Link to post
jrt 0
yeah obviously not a good idea cos i am not going to get 50 rabbits and 10 foxes a night.I will carry on shooting them with the shotgun and tell fy mate that he is a nob for walking his dogs at night with a lamp Quote Link to post
waidmann 105
a mate takes his border bitch out with the lurcher and she catches the "odd" one too. i take my pup out when lamping,it gets him out, used to the rifle and lamp, he marks rabbits in cover that i have not seen and finds the ones shot that i can't. a usefull little helper( how often have we all searched for bunnys in long grass??). i have no intention of "running" him but if he catches one its in the bag( and the rabbit quealing is worth sitting down for ten min in case reynard has heard it ) i don't think its important what we do with the dogs as long as do something that can make the dog more versatile, fitter and get him using his grey matter. i appreciate that some fox hunters won't think a terrier should be used on rabbits, i think they can be versatile little all rounders( jack of all trades??????). all for it Quote Link to post
