anyone cheched out the freeride box by pieps. granted it might not be as fast to use as origanal,but it looks good value for money.

Can't see any thing advanced here,there is no new technology apart from reducing size to a handheld mobile phone,the Ortovox S1 alraedy does this and much more Ortovox S1,

seen these in a camping shop and they seemed pretty smart even though not as high range as the one used

by bellman they still go up to 40m which is by far good enough i have just told a young lads who

comes out with me to get one and get a bellman collar to go with he will saves about £120 if he shops around

it only has 1 antenna and the bellman has 3 antenna which is why the bellman is more accurate ,might be ok though but dont get suckered in you get what you pay for

I'm sure your refering to the Freeride which has 1 antenna,i'm also fairly certain

the Ortovox S1 has 3 anttenna'a which pretty much puts it on the same level as Mammut

i wrote it here several times in many topics, i ve got all boxes to test, BF is ok but it s old, slow and not very accurate but much better freeride, but worse than pieps dsp advanced. the best boxes on the market are Mammut Barryvox Pulse and Orthovox S1 version 2,0.mammut is number one. we done some tests with new collar from BF and it s seems to b little bit better than with orthovox collar. it have to be because size nearly the same bf longer but not so wide. we gonna by another bf collar to test.

Agree with Matulkoh, barryvox pulse gets my vote. You get what you pay for, if your in terriers for the long run you might as well spend your money wisely, instead of trying to save a few pound.

I haven't used or even held a freeride

BUT, the old deben grey box had just the one antaenna and was very accurate.

The 3 antenna are needed to give a digital reading not accuracy.
