AKA-BRINDLE 879
Obviously the dog was not injected so nobodys fault but his own,but at the end of the day its only a dog.could have been worse he could have got it himself it also kills people.A friend of mine kissed a golf ball a few years ago after a good shot(I dont play golf)and he contacted it and died. thought you had to come in contact with it,on a open wound or bite people can catch it through drinking the rats piss...lad near me lost a lurcher when it ate one that had got into its run i can understand the dog getting it,might of taken a nip when it killed it,but a human from kissing a golf ball, well f**k me whats the chances, not saying didnt happen but the odds f*****g slim, prob not best to put it to the test though One of the many reasons i dont play golf...lol i do,never played such a good shot to warrent kissing the ball though i was allways good at getting the ball in the clowns mouth...but allways struggeld to get it in the windmill Quote Link to post

paulk73 151
the organism, that causes the disease leptospirea, has about 7 or 8 varients of the disease, and although there are vacines available for one or two of the most common strains, just because the dog is vacinated against these does not gaurentee immunity to the other strains. so the guy could have in theory been up to date with his dogs jabs Quote Link to post
dog fox 16
slightly off topic but i have a nuttal dog that when has been to ground the last 2 times (after taking quite a bit of punishment )has been cleaned up and put on antibiotics has started healing nicely ,but after about a week ltr has turned white like aneamic with a blue tongue and gums ,still eating plenty and drinking .eyes are still sparking and is not dehidrated but is not good in his self after about 2 days he starts pinking back up and is now back to is normall health after a week or solid rest . thought it was shock after first time but when it happened again and after a week of being worked has got me baffelled any one else had this experiance ,he works his game hard and doe,s give it his all so wondered if it could be down to bruising or internal bleeding .he having a good long rest now before he goe,s back to work probs leave him now to next season to be on safe side .apart from that he,s back to his normal health and full of himself again ......any advice would be appreciated ... dso88 15
if your vet is or whoever does your boosters are using good quality jabs your dog will be covered for weils disease i know somone that died from it through licking golf balls as well Quote Link to post
Guest wurzil
i had to have a lurcher bitch put down last year through weils disease, the piss is very dark in colour almost brown and the weight just fell off her. she was dead in four days and the vet said her liver and kidneys where severly damaged. i watched the lad who i bought her off jab her so i thought everything was ok there with the jabs. ive since learned there is alot of counterfit jabs on the market and some are just water, some jabs are good but if not stored right they end up useless. i take all my dogs to vets for jabs now, i know its expensive but its peace of mind and alot cheaper than buying a new lurcher pup and having to wait for it to grow up and train it. yis wurzil. dso88 15
thats why i take mine to the vets my vet charges 15 for a booster which i dont think is that deer Quote Link to post
surrey lass 12
when my terriers were ratting a few years ago i had them jabbed twice yearly with the lepto jab on the advice from the vet, but can i say even if your dogs are inocculated they can still get these diseases rare but it can happen, i have seen how dogs go downhill fast and its very distressing to all so any signs of your dog not being right, take them to the vet just to make sure Quote Link to post

Sounds like a your dog could be allergic to the antibiotics youre using, when the dogs fit and well and not been worked give him a small dose at least you would know then. The dog might not look dehydrated because antibiotic reactions tend to make the dogs skin swell or puff up a bit in those ive seen. And this is only my opinion mate but if the dog needs anti's everytime you work it the dog shouldnt be worked again,if you keep using antibiotics regularly they just wont work anyway. dean 11
[about 10years ago my mates dog had a brace of foxs in a drain was really hammered killed the pair but his face was really cut up drain was full of silt and dog was covered in it mate took him home washed and cleaned him up etc by that night he phoned dog was pissing and crapping blood went to vet next morning had him put down it was that quick and the dog was jabbed makes you think waste of a good dog so what are you meant to do to protect your dog Quote Link to post
kbtfowler 2
Is there anywhere I could get a hold of some antibis and some jabs, or is it a strictly vet thing or off a man who knows a man wink wink. Quote Link to post
dytkos 17,793
your right brindle, the dog cant have been vacinated or booster not up to date, sorry to here about the dog but your mate should jab his dogs if he hasnt then hes an arsehole.and its all his own f*****g fault.
