slipper 116
the same thing happened to my fell terrier a few weeks back, the canal was frozen with snow on top he thought it was the path, very lucky to get him back, he fell through the ice and could'nt get out my mate was the closest so he jumped straight in, top man, lesson learned the hard way! steve66 3,449
Glad you and your dogs alright Mally . All to often sadly its a different out come , to be honest id sooner lose a dog than leave a family fatherless but havning said that on the spur of the moment you never know what you'd do hindsight's a wonderful thing Quote Link to post

Thing is mate i never thought twice at the time i just threw my jacket off and in i went. It was a couple of hour after i realised how stupid i had been. Yes i knew the water wasn't deep, but what if i'd slipped etc etc...As you said it's a good outcome and i'm very thankful of that. Quote Link to post

collie/grey 238
That must have been bloody scary and i for one wouldn't have been able to save my dog if that happened as i cannot swim well as it is and icy water scares the shite outta me, so your a top man for doing what you did, glad to know you both came out safe and well though as it could have been alot worse. No mate, i asked her why she was shouting the pup and she said her dog was walking on the ice yesterday and she thought it was alright. The pup was walking at my side until she started calling her!!!. I thought the woman was shouting her pup until i turned around and saw my pup on the ice and the stupid woman still calling her.
