waidmann 105
i have seen mv work( a good friend has one under hawk and gun) and was very impressed by their elegance. i particularly like the wire haired ones. the germans seem to think they have problems with the temperament( gun shy, water shy) which i have never seen/noticed. mostly these problems are due to training( man fault not the dog). i don't think they are as hard as the gwp/gsp but that may lie with the digs i have seen work and not the breed. there was a thread about them a couple of months ago in this section( panna started or was quite active if i remember rightly???). atb Quote Link to post
adamb 0
the smooth type or totally diferent to the wirehaired. i would go for a wirehaired any day can live in the house with you all week then take out shotting hawking what ever and be very happy. they will retrieve, point. the dogs we have had love the water and would much rather go in the water then on the gras when out walking. they are very laid back dogs great around family but are very soft if shouted at these dogs want be happy even with the slightess or a raised voice. GSPDave 0
Agree with adamb on this, Ive seen plenty of them over the years and the Wirehairs do seem to be the better breed, also agree they are very soft if you shout at them they seem to clamp up. Will add that there doesnt seem to be a huge amount of good lines out there, as with all HPR's I think they suffer because of there looks due to the show/pet people as they are a fine looking dog. Just my opinion. Quote Link to post

Dave C 63
I saw a smooth working the reed beds up the dale at the beginning of the season and was very impressed, looked a very different style to a GWP or GSP, not better or worse just different, i liked it and a very handsome dog it was two. If that's what you fancy go for it Josh. How are the pups doing Gary ? Dave. Quote Link to post
