Espeically Penny Taylor whom i have absolutley no respect for at all. Her articles are complete rubbish and contain nothing of any interest to us lurchermen. I scan through seeing stupid titles such as "are tails important in a lurcher"! "A dogs eye sight" And my most loved "Working a bobbery pack" A picture at the top of the article showing more than a dozen dogs! Who is the real puppy dealer here? Give me her money and i will write articles on what the lurchermen of the country want to here not this rubbish.

WELL SAID MATE HOW CAN ANYONE HAVE THAT MANY DOGS AND CLAIM TO WORK THEM ALL UNLESS YOU JUST LET THEM RUN RIOT AS A PACK. ITS GONE DOWNHILL SINCE THE BAN EDRD IS A BETTER READ AND WORTH THE MONEY

agree mate edrd propper mag  i only read countrymans because our lass buys it me.

Well maybe it would be good to do a test issue; we could have a thread on here whereby people can sign up to the mailing list. Sending a PDF via email gives you the ability to read on your PC/Laptop or print it out and read it whilst on the toilet (nice thought....NOT!).

Not sure what the next step is, do you think there are the people to write articles?

Also the Countrymans weekly have a large stock of images (I would guess!) so if they are doing an article on whippets they immediately have images to hand. Whereby, this would have to be a group effort. Also monthly would definitely be the way forward.

i suggested on here about pre ban articles and maybe articles of terrier work in places where it is still legal, france etc... a fortnight or so later penny wrote and article on deerhounds workin boar etc... very good and pre ban but it was in the 1800's lol... and the end of the day its the editors of the magazine that slap down the law on the writers so i'd blame the mag not the authers...

Notice people knocking poodle x greyhounds dont if you havent seen the dog work,i use a labradoodle for a gun dog he is spot on and also scores well at the scurrys and trials in the summer. He is enormous though built like a tank

i also have a golden retriever crossed with a poodle and she is a demon in cover as hard a nails and an excllent water dog she can hunt all day harder than a springer.

both dogs were experiments to see if it was a credible working dog x so i have gone out of my way to work them hard.

Cant see any reason at all why a poodle x greyhound wouldnt be a superb lurcher in the right hands

brains, coat, stamina, good feet.poodles have it all going on :bye:

everyone needs a good rant once in a while mate, and to be fair I agree, the countrymans weekly has been going downhill for a while, I stopped buying it months ago, when I realised that I had spent two pounds and not got anything from it apart from a little bit of fun window shopping for lurchers at the back. that bobbery pack one got me too, what a joke. the countrymans should get rid of pretty much all their writers, and swap them for actual hunters of today. and it doesn't half f**k me off reading the occasional hancock article, I mean if i liked the stink of bull shit i would go roll about in some, but i wouldn't pay money for it.

Its 2 quid a week, so not the end of the world, what else is there??

Should have a lot more pre ban stuff in it though,I get fed up with rabbits and rats all the time,I liked the issue where it has the old coursing dogs in it,we need more of that type of stuff. IMO
