fishfish 17
Is it just me or is the Countrymans Weekly getting worse and worse?! I have around 65 of these now and i have been scanning through them to see that the articles are getting weaker and weaker! Espeically Penny Taylor whom i have absolutley no respect for at all. Her articles are complete rubbish and contain nothing of any interest to us lurchermen. I scan through seeing stupid titles such as "are tails important in a lurcher"! "A dogs eye sight" And my most loved "Working a bobbery pack" A picture at the top of the article showing more than a dozen dogs! Who is the real puppy dealer here? Give me her money and i will write articles on what the lurchermen of the country want to here not this rubbish. As for Ray Charles he is the same "Deer stalking" Only ever shot one DEER! I have given up entirely on reading his articles now and thinking of picking up another copy of this costly rubbish. The letters page does noone any favors either only last week was there a letter heading called "The lamping season is upon us" Basically a letter to the editor saying how scumbags and jippos come from the town onto farmers feilds killing deer, badgers and foxes stealing tractor batteries and nicking red diesel COME ON PEOPLE WAKE THE f**k UP!!! why would they even publish that! Its shooting all of us in the foot and giving the farmers and land owners that we are asking permission for to break the law on their land and steal from them!!! Sorry about the rant Steve well if you dont like it write some articles, countryman's will always seriously consider articles and in fact spoke to me saying they would love some contributes on terriers etc. so if you guys want better content supply it! artic 595
There not all that bad, and i'm assuming since the ban it really limits authors what to write and what is allowed to go to press. I couldn't do it so i'm not knocking it. However what i did find a couple of years back is that CMW was FULL of adverts, loads of them, and usually poor cheap home made products being advertised. I don't know if it has changed since then. If you don't like whats in there do what i did and probably what many others did and stop buying it. Edited January 14, 2010 by artic Quote Link to post

wexford Pa 84
If i hear anymore about the boring escapades of 'Bilbo' the plummer terrier im gonna cry .. a mooch round the fields wit my own dogs are more exciting than his hunting trips.. What would be the law on publishing a hunting article that took place in ROI? Quote Link to post
boyo 1,398
2 points from me i wrote in to the letters page a while back and asked why all the adverts and not enough for the working terrier and running dog man/women and how cant it go back to how it was origenally when it was foremost a working dog paper and in fairness a very good one at that but it never got printed neither did they reply to me 2nd point a few years back i used to course in the same club as penny taylor and believe me she does work all her dogs and not only that but worked them hard on top of that they were all very well trained and obediant and there were another 30 odd members that can vouch for the fact she was out most days in the season whether ferreting coursing or digging and to be honest is a very knowlegable dogperson who can walk the walk and talk the talk . nakednutt 58
penny taylor can hardly write my dog killed a fox cause fcuk the ban in a nationwaide magazine. if any use lads knew half what she knows about dogs and such matters use will be doing well. also i think you'll find if you spoke to the woman then you'd change your opinion. she's always willing to help when folk have problems with there dogs. Edd_Wiltshire 9
Indeed the articles do become a little boring to be honest; nothing ever gets covered in any detail. Not asking for illegal activities to be included but most of the stories are lacking any charm. I don’t buy it all the time any more, just every so often, best thing in there are the listings for game fairs and events, oh and to look at the dog classifieds for a really good laugh. Not going to slag it off at all as basically its the Countrymans Weekly or nothing! Just out of interest, would anyone be interested in a PDF newsletter for the working dog person, made up entirely with contributions from folk from this forum? I would be happy to lay it all up and email it out, would be great to see some of your hunting tales together with some photos. Just an idea. Quote Link to post
