i bred my bitch last august and thats what i did i used my mates dog so he had a bitch my digging partner was gifted another he had a dog and one bitch went ireland plus i kept dog so will be able to keep tabs on them and hopefully if make the grade we will all do the same in the future so we all benefit from keeping the same line and we know the breedings there fingers crossed atb biza

ive got 3 pups from the same litter they r now 6 months old and all 2 of them want 2 do is kill each other in the kennel so i dont no what 2 do i dont want 2 give the line a way

 

Pass them on mate, it's the only way. I know how you feel, every litter I've bred i tend to keep the worst one !!!. It doesn't matter how long you've been doing terrier work or how many litters you've bred if you can pick the best pup in a litter at eight weeks old then you're a better man than me. The only thing you can do is give them too good friends as I've already said and have a hand in there upbringing and entry, after a while of doing this you'll feel like you've got a massive teem to call on should the need arise and a much bigger gene pool to breed from which all should be properly tried and tested.

 

 

thanks again Busterdog for your advice.... us newcomers can learn far more by asking the right questions and been prepared to listen, than been over kean and blinkered and rushing in regardless...

still feel its more difficult than you put it... because as a newcomer...there's only myself and a mate that are into working terriers...so far...how do we keep our stock close to be called upon when needed when we dont have a large group of digging freinds to pass them onto..

obvoius answer is dont breed...buy in your stock...but i know i would find it far more rewarding doing things my way, rather than aquiring dogs from elsewhere chancing that they are what they are said to be... there lies the catch22 situation...

 

you could always pass them on to people u feel u can trust on this forum and ask [bANNED TEXT] u give them a pup to be kept in touch with the progress and use him her as atud brood if they produce the goods, im not trying to ask u for a pup as it was enough trouble getting the one ive got let alone more jst to keep the record straight
