Out of interest as i dont drive & no nowt about cars & points etc is it the person thats insured or the vehicle

It's both Kay. Some allow you to drive other vehicles as well as yours, some dont. The problem arises when you have a job and you travel with your vehicle to and from and buy the normal social and domestic insurance. (limited types of jobs apply to this)

Never lie about your vehicle i.e yes its garaged when you clearly dont, and yes its alarmed when it clearly isn't. You will be caught out in a matter of time by commiting a minor traffic offence.

Oh right thanks for the explanation

I got 11 points and £900 fine for driving the works landrover my boss at the time was a lying thieving c##t he told me the vehicle was classed as agricultural use and that I could use it on the road being young and dumb at the time I believed him till I got pulled no mot, red diesel in tank, no tax, no insurance,

Magistrate told me as the driver it was all my responsibility and that I should be less trusting of my employer in the future I told them I had left that employment as he was a lying sh#t and and she said because she felt I was telling them the truth I could keep my licence all be it with 11 points.

the problem at the end of the day is ; because you have to have insurance by law the insurance companies load it and make it so expensive a lot of people and young drivers can t really afford it so take the chance, it is geting better with all the compition ie the internet based sites etc

its more to do with understanding insurance

having full comp insurance on YOUR CAR

is totally different from

BEING A NAMED DRIVER on your mums insurance, its still your mums insurance, not yours, you could try pleading ignorance to the court,

If you thought that you were insured then I have every sympathy for you. It was an unfortunate mistake and the outcome does seem extremely harsh. I think you could appeal because you didn't get the letter, but then you may be in trouble for mot telling them you'd moved.

We've all done daft things at some point. He was only driving his mates car. If it was his own car he wasn't insured for then I'd say throw the book at him, the worse they could do the better. Intentionally avoiding insurance costs the rest of us a fortune and I'm always pleased to hear of people getting vast fines and bans. As it was a one of and you have insurance for yourself then I feel it's a little OTT.

I genuinly thought i had insurence and my mate of many years even told me i had insurence i wouldnt have drove if i didnt think i had insurence so no need for the comment like "You deserve what you get" thats obviously just spitefull shit spouting out of your mouth.Even if i did hit someone with or without insurence that would not affect anyones skills with driving. No one purposefully hits another cos they do or dont have insurence.
