I would be very thankfull if somone could show me a pic of were i need to hit pigeon in chest to kill it stone dead because i dont like them to flap its not nice to watch. thanks pest hunter 151 Quote Link to post
wuzzy 0
unfortunatly fella you have to hit them in the head or the crop (where the neck joins the breast) the breast plate is to hard for the pellet to kill quickly, hope this helps Quote Link to post
davyt63 1,845
hi why not wait for it to settle, and what happens is! its head sinks to its shoulders. and this is when its at its most relaxed and calm ,also a more stable target to hit! in the head i find pigeons more diffucult to shoot then bunny's to be fair! hope this helps regards davy Quote Link to post

silentshot1 206
Hi mate I've been in your situation before and found that -177 just doesn't stop pigeons as easily as .22 As Davey advise's, go forth noggin or if they are in a trees ain at the crop from underneath. good luck with it! Edgar 1
I shoot pigeons with my .22 in the heart lung area and have no problems, shot thousands literally. But never past 25-30 yards because on the farms I shoot its mostly small sheds and long range shots are not usually necessary. I shoot them in the body because, say you aim for the head but you are an inch out, not a big error could happen to anyone, you could wound it in the beak or neck leaving it to fly away wounded. Whereas if I am an inch out on the body the pigeon is less likely to be able to fly away and is going to die soon from blood loss. Ferals are tough but a body shot will kill cleanly Quote Link to post
