boo28 0
There is a difference between mooching about, walking with a pup and it haveing a run or two on a bunny that pops up in front of it to actually taking the said pup out intentionally running it on a rabbit or two. I personally wait till about 12 months old to take it out on the lamp, to late is far better than to early. Casually mooching about with a pup will do it no harm, it's the intentionally running the pup on quarry at a young age that ruins them. you cant be to late but can be to early Quote Link to post

iceman001979 1,316
Alot off people on here have good ideas on how till bring up pups but think the best thing is letting the dog work with and older dog have 2 pups 4 months old and when l go for walks l just let them fellow there mother. She learn them about what not 2 chase and what till chase how get through gates and over ditchs. Just started them jumpind and coming on well just play games with them that will benefit them down the line but am hoping my bitch will do most off the work with them. Quote Link to post

I am not taking the piss here-unfit has said that your dogs are a cut above the average- if its true hows it done? Quote Link to post
steveS.Yorks 161
A couple of things bother me about this thread, The really good Lurchers ive ever seen without exeption have had "drive" a lot of it,they dont get to 18 months and suddenly get it,its there from a young age,you get such a pup and keep it bottled up until its 12 months old and then run it,the drive and determination takes over the pups common sense and lack of experiance with obsticales and it runs into something? more likely with some breeds than others granted, give them all the obediance/schooling you like but when they see a rabbit at 12 months for the first time ever a dog with real drive wont care much about that imo. the other thing is it seems to be turning into a "who leaves it the longest" competition, personally i dont know anyone who wouldnt run an odd rabbit until a dog was 18 months old, what about reading the individual pup and just using common sense? I take things steady myself but some people on this thread are taking the piss imo. Quote Link to post
steveS.Yorks 161
Open minded about what exactly? Ive given an opinion,if you disagree fine, lets hear your reasoning, exchangeing ideas is how we all learn more. atb steve. Quote Link to post
