if its a kc staff as he says you cant really argue can you?and dogs dont have to conform to the breed standard to be their breed, imagine they change the standard for staffs again to somthing almost identical to english bull dogs, would that make all the staffs we own now american and irish?

 i had a kc that was 18" 42lb and he was a staffordshire bull terrier!!! no arguments

That is only just on the large side, that american staffie is just far too leggy to say it has nothing else in it somewhere down the line. I could get you staffie papers For a spaniel if you asked so papers mean nothing. My staffie's grandfather is huge and supposedly a staffie, he has no papers and there is just no way he is a pure staff unless he's an abnomality

Also 12gauge says it's a kc staff and not akc if he'd said it was akc I would understand as their standards are always larger than the kc's

fair comment about the papers.

maybe not all staffords were near enough ruined by making them short and stumpy when the breed standard changed.

the dog he showed fits the old standard well, wheras most of the very short stout staffs have probably got english bull dog somwhere down the line (like you said papers can be forged etc)

kc and their breed standards have got alot to answer to for ruining breeds from their original standards especially terriers unfortunatly.i now keep beagles(working)but some of the kc ones i have seen are monsters with heads like mastiffs.

i'm in the US, what would i want to go to the UK to get an amstaff or a pitbull or a crossed breed for that matter that's freaking retarded. my dog is DNA tested, AKC registered as well and he is 18 inch 38-40 lbs, just a stafford like the creators of the breed had in mind. Even the short and squatty stafford arent within the standard conformity american or british which are the same. how can you expect a dog 14-16 inch weighing 40+ lbs perform any given task. most show champions weigh more than the 38 lb max required by the new standard, does that mean they arent staffords either? or if they measure 16.5 inch to the shoulders, does that mean they arent staffords?

When i was in the UK few years back when to a show in Wolverhampton, I don't think there was a single stafford there measuring 16 inch, they were all above that and much heavier than 38 lbs. the standard is there as a guidance (which i dont care for) and the height says desirable height not mandatory. now if you dont wanna believe my dog is in fact a stafford, that's fine just dont say it isnt without knowing the dog or his ancestry. I can show you tons of 17.5 and above staffords born from 15 and 15.5 inch staffords but i'm not here to make believers.

I dont want to get into any arguments, i just stick to the facts period.

No-one is disputing the pedigree just the staffie type.

12Gauge like I said the legs are a lot longer on the american staffie than the staffordshire bull terrier and that dog has long legs period. If is not from american staffie lines then it has it in it somewhere. period

It's still a great looking dog whichever way you look at it period :clapper: the likley hood is the same as the uk, that some breeders have added certain blood to increase this and that but still pass them as kc staffies.

Oh and your pretty accurate about the old types but even the old types weren't that leggy.

too many haters but i'll give you all he's got behind him : rapparee, lancstaff sparbu saga, sparpit, cradbury's , wallace the wizard, benica boy

although he's got a very nice pedigree, good dogs are were you find them, and he's worth feeding, he's thrown several good pups, just had a recent litter of two males, one stayed here and went to Arizona, the other one is already working fox and badger hyde with only six months, have high hopes for them. very happy with what i have.

i know what you mean, and there are a lot of breeders who cross their staffs with pits, etc.. but becausse of a stafford being leggier doesnt mean it has pit of amstaff in it

Ok, now since we are talking dogs, let's go back few years to the original staffords of old at the begining and mid century, and let's compare them to the dogs of today (in my opinion the dogs of today arent near in looks, tenacity and stamina compare to the old days staffords:

Some of the biggest staffords I have ever seen have been down off the Sparpit stuff...absolute monsters they were and dwarfed my stuff.

My old lad from Raparee, Betchgreen, Constones stuff...if you look back far enough
