When youve been and done 5years straight out of a 10 in an A cat come and tell me all about how cushty it was . .three d up or even foured up in a 2 man cell with a toilet stinking away , weeks of 23hour bang up with 1 hour in the yard , 1 laundry change a week , oh yeah but youve got a tv so its real easy. 1hour a fortnight with your family , until you get shipped out in the middle of the night 200mile away , so no more visits. Honestly it cracks me up, you get one piece in the sun about how all the bent coppers and solicitors and dodgy businessmen are having a whale of a time in ford and everyone comes out with the same old "holiday camp" crap. If you do a crime you do your time end of story , no whining no complaining , and yes , they deserve what they get , but that dont make it a doddle coz youre watching tv. . ."3 meals a day " what a load of crap , you want to think before you speak and just because you dont agree with the law that you are breaking dont make you exempt from "do a crime do your time" plenty of deer poachers badger diggers dog fighters and cockfighters , been on the inside lads. Huntly and the rest of the 43s should all have been shot without a moments hesitation.

prison is supposed to be a loss of freedom,thats all,thats the punishment,.....

 

lets see how many of these folk talking about holiday camps would have the mental strength to survive a few years as a cat a prisoner.....its easy to read the papers and repeat what you read.....but like with most other things....the real thing is often very different to what the papers make out.

 

plenty of cat d prisons and yoi,s are working prisons,in other words your days pass quickly because you are working,often out in the fresh air.....i wouldnt call working out in the fresh air for 6 pound a week then getting to watch tv at night a holiday camp...what sort of holidays do you have !!!

 

but still,dont confuse that with cat a.....being a cat a you are just barely able to hold onto your dignity.....double cat a and you dont even get to do that.... pride and dignity is always the last thing to go.....try living a life with no pride and dignity and it will be a short life .......what more punishment do you want !

It's also worth considering that the great majority of prisoners are in for "major crimes" like not paying speeding fines, or shoplifting a few quid's worth of food to feed the kids. I know a guy who was 62 when he was banged up for non-payment of poll tax. We send people down for stuff that in Europe would be dealt with by a fine, deducted from benefits or wages.

I haven't been in prison so i just have my own opinion like everyone else

 

But what i would like to see more common sense with sentencing. I think a kid who spends his time not going to school so he can nick cars and break into houses, and especially people who are cruel to animals need to be dealt with HARD and before it escalates. Prevention is better than the cure. You can literally get away with murder when you are young, how many times does someone need to be caught before alarm bells start ringing?

 

But i couldn't say about conditions inside, i just know i never want to be there but however bad they are they aren't bad enough for the child molestors and rapists.

Is prison supposed to be punishment or rehabilitation?? Sometimes I wonder!!!

 

I cannot say if prisons are too soft as I havent been inside, but I think sentencing these days is a joke. Life should mean life..simple as that. Plus you hear so often of kiddy fiddlers getting away without even a jail term...where is the justice in this???

I was remanded as a young lad and the first RC was Brockhill (now a womans jail i think) that was a fooking dive, had to shit in a parcel and fook it out the window, shared cells.

 

Then we moved to a brand new RC Blakenhurst, we smashed the fooker up and protested on the roof, a fun few hours, they had very little control. The new RC had top of the range gym, pool tables, tv rooms etc...

 

Still 12 months was long enough behind bars for me to decide that i didnt want to go back, i missed my freedom so much.

 

Some people dont really care about that so are happy to spend there life in and out.

 

Peodo's should be executed IMO and that on top of immigration is the main reason i vote for the BNP.

Its only half the time on a sentance up to 4 years....that half is then normally reduced to around a third if you keep your nose clean and qualify for a tag meaning 2 years is more often that not 8-10 months.....

 

However....10 years is likely to end up being 7/8....and nobody gets released as a cat a.....

I dont believe foreign prisons are any worse than here if you,ve committed a serious crime....loss of freedom is loss of freedom.

Things may have changed a little i think Gnasher.....over 4's now qualify for 1/2 time off for good behaviour. Also first tagging date is 1/4 of your sentence if your doing between 4 months and 4 years. Under 4 months and its 31 days for tagging date. Over 4 yrs and tag not appicable.....also not applicable for various violent crimes regardless of sentence.
