The HW is a great rifle and could probably be tuned to 20ft/lb as could the HW77. Both are heavy but a lighter weight springer would probably be difficult to shoot at that power.

thanks for all the advice mate. Dont know what to do as i saw a really good deal on a 17hmr and am so temted.... I wouldnt be able to afford both so it has to be one or the other... I d need the 17 for vermin control on a new shoot i took over so i dont know what to do???

I have never used a 17 HMR but from what other people say they are accurate to 200 yards for rabbits and small game and can be used for foxes but at no more than 100 yards. Supposed to be a bit difficult in the wind though due to light weight bullets. I don't think an air rifle would do that. Don't take my word for it though.

I might go for the 17 hmr cause a mate of mine is goin to get a air rifle like the one i was talkin about so between the 2 of us we would cover all eventualities...

is it easy to get a fac out there then? like mentioned before a diana 52 would be excellent or if you wanted to go balls deep a 54 ive wanted one for years.

in ireland you can probabley get whatever gun you want if you are prepared to wait...

guards are so out of touch it is unreal...
