dog yapping rather than foul her run - help!

Recommended Posts

Hi. My 9 month lab gives a repeated, very high pitched yap whenever she needs to toilet in her run.we can let her out but have recently been trying the 'ignore her and she'll get the idea' method. If we're out during the day though, this disturbs neighbours. Any advice?

Does she usually pee on grass? If so, put a piece of turf in her run for her to go on. If she doesn't usually go on grass put a piece of whatever she does go on in the run, or you could try a patch of wood shavings: some dogs don't like to go on a surface that isn't absorbent.

Thanks both of you!

Funnily enough, she'll go on any surface once she's out of the run but will try putting in some different surfaces just to see if it makes a difference. She tends to get let out at the same time each day during the week, then differing times at weekends - any advice on this?
