Rainmaker 7
Bloomin' hell lad that was some mix!! End of the month, no feckin money left, eat whatever's left hanging round til payday jobbie, was it? Don't worry, we all go there! What's up with a nice bowl of steaming lamb hotpot with extra pepper, and a good lump of crust on the side? Pass the red cabbage will ya Fer the price of that there Countryman's you could have bought a nice selection of veg off the local farmer (if you didn't nick em) and chucked it in the pot with half a rabbit, and had yerself a real tea! Unless you nicked the Countryman's as well? That said, come payday its back to chips, beans, sausage, bacon and egg on toast :11: Edited September 27, 2006 by RainmakerKennels
Rainmaker 7
Just had to add (seein as I'm bored rigid), I'm cooking a nice one up tonight. I made myself hungry this morning posting the above! haha * Roll 1lb of lamb neck, mutton or beef shin in flour * Add to a tbsp boiling oil and tbsp butter in the stockpot * Stir in half a cup of chopped onion and brown * Once browned, add a decent splash dark ale (or Fursty Ferret as tonight!) * Simmer on high heat until reduced to thick stock * Add in three chopped onions, a large chopped leek, half a dozen chopped carrots, half a dozen chopped large dark cabbage leaves, and a dozen diced potatoes, with 100g dry pearl barley and a couple of sprigs of rosemary leaves - shredded kale optional * Add three or four pints of boiling water, simmer on high heat for several hours Serve with a hot short crust (or suet crust) baked seperately, along with the rest of the ale Now THAT'S a dinner if I do say so mesen
