Both rifles put out just below the legal limit. The HW95 is best for hunting as it is light in comparison to the HW97. However the downside is that there is a fair amount of recoil until it is run in, after a few thousand shots. The HW97 is very accurate and has less recoil, but I wouldn't want to carry one around all day. To be honest you won't go wrong with either of them. Cheers Sib Quote Link to post

zini 1,939
Hi pal, I have owned both rifle and shot hundreds of head of vermin with them. As Sib says the HW95k is lighter and easier to carry if you are on a long stalk or you have a big permission to cover. Both rifles are around 11.8FP and are more accurate than you will be able to shoot them. I liked my HW97K the most pal as i like a heavier rifle as i find i shoot it better standing unassisted. Both rifles are top quality hunting rifles. Zini Quote Link to post
ferrit 3
thanks very much for the inmormation,ps. could you tell me if you get the same minimal recoil of the 95 as the 97.and is it harder to shoot standing up with the 95? atb Quote Link to post
zini 1,939
Hi Ferrit, Both guns hardly put out any recoil compared to other brands of spring air rifle in their price range buddy. They are both top notch rifles. I find both rifles are easy to shoot, but it depends on your own shooting ability from different positions buddy. I don’t like taking standing shots anyway unless the target is no more than 20 metres away as I don’t shoot that well from that position and ought to spend more time improving that technique, but I get round it by using kneeing, prone, resting on my surroundings and sniping from my vehicle to achieve my aim. All it boils down to, do you want a light rifle or a heavier one? I’d go for the HW97K myself as when I say heavier rifle it’s not that heavy pal believe me. Zini. sibaldib 6
Straight out of the box the HW97 will have less recoil, simply because of it's extra weight. I bought a HW95 recently and have been suprised by the recoil, having shot PCPs for the past few years. However tried a mate's 95 that has had over 5,000 pellets through it and it is a much nicer recoil. If you're not carrying it around much, I'd agree with the others, and go the HW97 route.
