Squirrel_Basher 17,100
Stood on the edge of a wood for a while yesterday afternoon and found myself on a flight line albiet a slow one .The birds came over in large flocks which you pigeon shooters will agree is not good for a decent bag .Set a few shot birds out in front on some rape ,more as a target for crossing birds than a landing spot .Managed a round ten before the light went and as i went out to pick up the deeks,i saw the back of charlie coming around a corner about 50 yds away and below a plough line so he couldnt see me .This farm is next door to a chicken farm so i had no qualms about shooting it should the situation arise .I was in a bit of a dip myself so i had to crane my neck to see his back but charlie obliged by sticking his head above the banking at no more than 15 yards away and bang ,he was mine ,a good dog fox,no record breaker but par for the couse for a fowl fed animal. Saw several jack snipe along the stream as i walked back to the truck ,snipping their way fast and over the hedge . Quote Link to post
