wuzzy 0
hi all thought i'd post this on here aswell, just looking for some input really, i help run a small air rifle club up here in the north west but our member base is small to say the least so we are looking towards a lottery grant to improve our facilities for our members and attract new members, i have spoken to the big lottery fund and the response is positive. what i need from you all is what would you like to see in place at a club, bearing in mind we have a 100yrd outdoor plinking range,a club house with wood burner and full kitchen and a toilet block Quote Link to post
zini 1,939
Hi Joey, I have never been to your club so haven’t seen the lay out yet but my suggestions are as follows: Information boards hung up in the club house for new shooters to cover the following: The law in regards to shooting an air rifle Safe shooting with an air rifle / pistol How to zero a scope correctly How to maintain your rifle How to estimate range Explain hold under and hold over Some electric soup heater for the cold Winter mornings at the club The obvious coffee and tea plus kettle, cups, tea spoons etc A brew fund set up and run by a member of the club staff. Some filling equipment, maybe a 12L, 300 bar cylinder owned by the club so members can fill their combos. Some good knock down targets all different sizes Demos by different members doing different things with their rifle, i.e. cleaning the barrel correctly to remove any lead particles, resetting the trigger pull to achieve better accuracy, washing and lubing pellets for the newer members, shooting up inclines and down at lower targets than the horizontal plane etc. Regular shooting competitions with prizes and a updated score boards to keep the younger members interested. A trophy for the best overall shot, most improved shot and most outstanding shot at the end of each year I hope this is what you are looking for pal . Regards Si Quote Link to post

fasthands 2
Hi chap, as a kid I used to go to a friends farm, where his dad used to have a few mates over for shooting comps and general air rifle shooting stuff.. As daft as it may sound, he set up a Poly Tunnel for the range. It was cheap and worked a treat for sheltering against wind and weather.. Obviously a misplaced shot will go through but surely it will take a repeatedly bad shot to cause any real damage.. He also had a lerge shed what was called " Le Grand Bunker" where they used to sit and talk shite and sup tea.. very basic but it was a fantastic set up that was really popular with his friends.. I can remember there been about 15 people used to gather there some evenings and weekends.I was only about 9-10 at the time but remember it well..Maybe a Poly Tunnel will just improve conditions a little at a really low cost..Good luck with the club mate.. I may call for a visit if I am up north visiting home sometime.. If I would be welcome that is.. Quote Link to post
