I disagree I would want something taller /longer legged incase some of the litter turn out like stumpy shepherds .

This is my bitch I plan on using

A father to daughter mating was the last mating i made of the GSD x greyhounds over 8 yrs back , lost the last one 2 yrs back . I didn't want to get another dog in (greyhound) so I had AI on a 3/4 cross to her father a half x , 3 in the litter , that made me happy . My preference was the half x ,plenty of stamina great all round dogs used for all occasions , ferreting , lamping , hunting up , in the beating line. Picking up.when I was shooting rabbits . The 3/4 cross obviously a lot faster , took 108 rabbits one night with 2 - 3/4x's a whippet and a terrier, what a night and that was after after working them thru the day . What a night , unexpected we just kept going dogs kept running rabbits kept coming . Then moon came out , probably a good job .That was here in NZ. Hunters heaven here for me . I've just used them all whatever the mix and they have done me proud . I've had daytime hares with the half crosses stamina and brains won the days  there . My father to daughter mating was a 3 pup litter all 3 were different, one was a thick set lump, hell he put some effort in , a determined dog  inherited so much of his father's work ethic , smashed himself up working and died at 2.5. His brother was a leggy thin 29 Inch dog , not as determined as Lumpy Gravy as I named his brother but never let me down , used him a lot ferreting in a vineyard , threw himself everywhere , he went to 6yr old another untimely end. He could a burst on and get to almost 60 k's chasing the quad for exercise (that's what the Speedo showed ) couldn't sustain it though but I was surprised.

I work a few full white  gsd's in my team now , couple Whippets , Welsh springers and Speagles .

Zappa's semen is on ice , the half x I brought to NZ , I've contemplated putting him to.my whippet bitch . But I dare say if I did I would have to cull the litter hard , no market here for GSD X's . I don't particularly want to go thru that , plus I'm getting on a bit , got and have enough dogs at present to keep me happy .

Wallaby hunting now that's a thing I've enjoyed here and I've watched them run all my GSD x's ragged, Zappa , 3/4 cross and the 5/8. Best we done is a team of 3 Welshies and a white shepherd  that learnt how to  kill them quickly and I had one of the 5/8 in the team .  Them wallabies just keep going just as fast uphill as down.

Happy days 🙂

Thanks for your input what would your opinion be on this wee bitch? Since you have year experience breeding with the gsd. I’ve got ppl say whippet ppl saying greyhound others says racy lurcher that works. What do you think?

Why a greyhound, why not a fast and racey lurcher that works?

Not sure was just thinking she’s really smart and agile got high prey drive and is already fast for a gsd but just use the greyhound to add more speed. That’s what my thoughts were

But you could get speed and much more with a good lurcher?

Does the greyhound in them stop them being gobshites round the property? Guarding is one thing but most shepherds I've known seem to just like barking

Well, only going on my.old dog , never heard him bark  in 12 years.he don't guard for a start,  to friendly  lol.his mom the gsd, was good guard but not over the top , she friendly  animal as well. Maybe as was kenneld  with Bryn as well made difference  as Bryn never barked  either. The only thing that did piss  me off , was his fookin chewing  he wreaked his kennel. Had cover it in thick mesh  to stop the that. That lump on his side got bit bigger, he OK eats well, and plods  along steady on the walks with  little woody. But I am worried  about it, I've got keep eye  on it now, once it starts  to hurt him or goes off his food, I pts. And it be real shame as been  great lamping dog when he was younger  gave me great  8 years lamping😕
