I think plummer was the first person to decry 1st cross whippet/collies, as they 'didn't have the height or frame' to support that sort of breeding, pretty obvious years later, what he was up to, as he did all he could to support and further his mate hancock's puppy farming venture.

It can happen , and end up with dogs that look like skinny tailed foxes . 
if he was breeding his own litter he could just take the smallest pup the bigger ones should sell easily enough . 
myself if I was doing it I would probably use a generation bred saluki /grey .

Good point that,  just going on old Buck litter he came from.thats the 24in gsd bitch, to 28in razzmatazz  greyhound. The bitches made 25-26  strong racy build, the dogs made 26 -29in, Buck was 28in. Now all the litter catch rabbits no prob Buck best bag 38 up the dales, and plenty of 20s in harder places get up to foxes, deer no prob.what you got remember  is they have long stride, and good pace, and run all night long, great stamina they cover ground quick deff. Yes they don't look like you of the mill normal type lurcher, but don't be fooled  by that.as lamping dog hecwas brill for  near 8 years, then  lost bit of pace, but he  gave 100% up to then. Yeh the lad should go back nice 26in size greyhound,  and he  should bit of luck get nice bitch out of it, for most quarry, but even the big males still feel his freezer, and do few Charlie's,  if there anything like old Buck was.

Some of Billy Barton dogs at least the 3 /4 were as tall as a bloody Shetland pony,I felt like getting a saddle and riding the bugger around but a lass i never saw the 3.4 in the field ,which reminds me ,he kindly gave me a nice bitch pup, but I think I rehomed she to pet home. That last bit may not be right, as I vaguely think she developed a major health issue.
