Shooter08 0 Posted January 5, 2010 Report Share Posted January 5, 2010 what them blacky yins???? i know keeper told me after, lucky i took it wae a lurcher round then an not a shotty michigan blacks there called, i had two in my garden but they decided to go for a swim in the pond and drowned :/ the white ones are called white alaskan snow pheasants, ive seen 1 cock on bird trader go for £65, theres a shoot near me that have them and theres a bounty of £50 for shooting them too, i have one in my garden lol, hes a little stunner! waidmann 105 Posted January 5, 2010 Report Share Posted January 5, 2010 the main types of pheasant are: phasianus colchicus mongolicus mongol without ring p.c. torquatus chinese ringed ph p.c. tennebrosus dark blue/green p.c. versicolor japanese multi coloured( often white/light) it is very rare to find pure pheasant,most are hybrid birds. hope this helps. He charged £3 each as the others (poults). We fine anyone that hits the black ones £30(for the beer fund) and if the white one is shot then all the guns that day have to throw £2 into the kitty for the man that shot it! The melanistic that dotty is on about are same price as a more usual strain of phesie, about £3 - 4.00 Shoots often have a bounty on the exotics, such as golden pheasant, lady amerherst, reeves or white pheasant, and also guinea fowl and wild turkey.
