just a topic to get some information and opinions on parson jack russels. thinking of getting one in the next few month when a get my house. al be using it for digging and bushing. what do yous think

I have 2 and in my oppinion they are the most versitile terrier around!

the parson russell terrier is kc registered mate, show rubbish thats all they are. spend your money elsewhere and go for a non reg working line!!!!

i wont dispute your dog works donnyc, i had a kc reg bitch myself and she also worked but got rid of her cos i had no faith in her breeding. 4 generations of her 5 generation pedigree were show dogs as is most the parson russells around so i would not take the chance of trying to produce workers from her, just my opinion, wurzil.

there are just as many non kc dogs bred from shite as there are russels bred from good stock imho its six and two threes.

i have a young russel who i'm very pleased with untill now. there are some great white dogs about and some crap black( chocolate seems to be the theme of the day ).

 

if you want a dog for everything in a small package then parson russel all the way bud.

same again waidmann i wont dispute your dog is working and im sure you are happy with it but surely the golden rule is if u want a working dog you go worker to worker for generation after generation and not show dog to show dog for generations, yours wurzil.

i have no problem with the workerxworker theory mate( i bred russels for 15 years in germany).the responsible terrier men will breed true to a line taking care that workh and health take president.

my point being that enough people breed "working" breeds for the money from unproven,young and or unhealthy( undershot,bow legged,weak boned etc) purely for the dosh and have no interest in either the sport or the dogs of the future.

the only way to be sure of having a good chance of a good dog( whatever you want it for) is know the breeder.

as i have said before trust is paramount.

 

there are some good honest lads on this site( the pup i have is from here) and some.....are not.

 

irrespective of breed get a pup from a good bloke and you stand more chance( there will always be failures)of getting what you are after.
