FightTheBan 1,147
As i am currently looking for a terrier of mine that was stolen x mas eve, it has got me thinking. Where do they all go? You hear of dogs being stolen week in, week out and there must be a market for them to make it worth thier while. I will accept the pikeys steal some(definately not all), and i will accept they will be bought by scrotes too money orientated to do their homework (the kind of dogmen that we dont need) . But where do the rest go, some are never heard from again. The dog world is quite a close knit community and its too close for certain dogs to be passed around undetected. All opinions welcome Cheers FTB.

Guest jt750
TBH*the dog world is a close knit community* is a lot of rubbish it isn't. Bitches i would imagine are bred off time and again until they are fit for nothing ..Dogs worked until they drop then either dumped or killed .. Don't know why they don't make it legal for every litter to be chipped ...then they can find at least one registered owner when they end up at the pound or follow a trail
Gin 498
One show i was at, a bullx lurcher was sold/passed on 5 times. Honestly 5 times. Kicked out the last lads car because it shit in the car. I took the dog off them. Told them to get the police if they wanted it back,- they did a runner. Couldn't trace the original owner, (not chipped or identifying marks really) so found it a real good home. It was at the Wolsingham show about 4 years or so ago. It would be quite easy to sell dogs on, i have been asked, if i wanted several lurchers in the past, and could not say for sure, they got them legit. I said no. FightTheBan 1,147
I think working dog communities are different in large towns and cities than to rural places. By following friends and people i know, if i wanted i could chap every door in a 20 mile radius of anyone who kept terriers, lurchers or ferrets. I would have to spend some time on it and make alot of enquiries but it could easily be done. I know in my town who the good guys are and who the ones to stay clear of are(many of which have had a chap on their door about my terrier). In urban areas, alot of people are just out for themselves and f@ck everyone else. That is my opinion anyway. Shows, in my experience, are the places where most scum come out of the woodwork. The only time i will be at a terrier or lurcher show, is if i am looking for a stolen dog. FTB

Missie 1
I would imagine a portion of stolen dogs end up in rescue. I should think some people steal dogs on a whim, looking for a quick buck and then dump them when they either can't move them on or people start asking questions. Irish Lurcher 1,013
I would say that a lot of the well know dogs that are stolen end up over here, just look at what happened when brookie dog ended up over here, thats proof.

rob.i 26
Theres dodgy buggers in all areas I know who they are in my area .Theyre the first ones to get a knock on the door when a dog goes missing .Its logical if youve got a grafter word gets round green eyes takes hold 1 missing dog or bitch dont think every aquaintance is a mate, pups will be sold to unscrupulous people who want it now rather than work at it no questions asked .Keep one eye on yer dog and the other on yer Mrs.
