James Doyle 59
they reccomend it to be before noon to let the smell of your hands wear off the snares Quote Link to post
stubby 175
just before dusk, and pick up at dawn, if theres a chance of passing people seeing them, Quote Link to post
watchman 256
just before dusk, and pick up at dawn, if theres a chance of passing people seeing them, this is what i do,i regularly snare a golf course so makes sense to me Quote Link to post
Rolfe 2
I always aim to set the last wire just as it gets too dark to set anymore and then check them at first light in the morning....before the corvids have time to find them. So depending on how many you are setting.... dusk and dawn are the most productive times as it's during this period that the rabbits are most active. Rolfe. Quote Link to post

woodga 170
if your snaring a secure area we start as early as possible to get the maximum ammount of wires down often we work until the light fades setting hundreds of wires , iv seen us back track and remove rabbits what have been caught , during the summer months you can set snares and have multiple catches from your wires before light fades we have had as many as sixty rabbits out of snares set only a few hours beforehand , conditions play a major role in taking large kills windy dark nights produce the best results. nights like we have now with hard frosts will keep the rabbits at home and the frost will build up on the loop of your snares making them visible to the rabbits you will have very poor results when this occurs, try and have your wires down before mid day ,dont worry to much if you can,t as long as your hands have no unusual scents all you really need do is rub your hands in some grass or peat and that will mask your scent, ps remember to check your wires daily as reqiured by law twice if you feel the need, during the summer months when the rabbits are active all day you can check three or four times if you want and you can reset the wires allowing for another catch good luck .
