davyt63 1,845
Hi every one No work today so arranged a day out up at Liddington with chaz. We set of at 8:30am and it’s only a 5 minute drive, we were all set up and ready to shoot vermin at 9:00am, chaz in the front seat me in the back so we both had a good view and range. I had the scopecam on and ready, but did not get the chance first thing. As soon as they came up they went back down again! And not much happened for another two hours, so we had a cuppa and some soup! To warm us up a bit, then it was time for walk about. I picked a nice little sniping spot between some wilted nettles, put me poncho down to lie down on. used me range finder to pin point the most active areas, 42,39,36,34yds all areas where you could clearly see, where the bunny’s were coming from and going too . An hour has passed before the first target bared the minus two conditions, to have a look a round, and right on the 39yd mark. On came the scopecam zoom in focus on it, on me cross hairs press record take me time THWUCK missed! My first chance missed after an hour. As you will see here! You will have to excuse my language As I was getting me self set up for the next shot, I knocked my scope and it began to fall to the side, and snatched at it to stop it and the scopecam came of But nothing to worry about, it will glue back! I could not believe I missed I think I was trying to hard to get the shot on cam and frustration took over, there was a slight breeze ,which I didn’t allow for. As there was nothing around I checked my zero again and it had moved so two clicks left and it was back on song again. But no more footage! Anyways went back to the truck for a cuppa and a fag, once that was done I went on the other side of moonlight valley, as where I was before was now in the shade and a damn lot colder by now. So went for the sunshine! I got to the top and thought! “I got to give up these fags†as I was just slowly approaching the hill, I spotted a pair of ears. So slowly back down and I had a 10yd crawl, just got me AAS410K up and over but as I lined it up, the silencer was still below the high ground in front of me. So slowly and quietly I had to retract the legs of the bi-pod so my mod was clear of any ground PHEW!! I knew it was about 25yds and put the cross hairs on the kill zone! Just as I squeezed the trigger it moved its head THWACK!! Down of the slope it went straight through its eye and out the other side, while I was waiting for the next target, I set about ranging all the obvious spots. To prominent chalk spots one 42yds & 47yds and a few holes here and there all within my zero and no hold over spots. So im sat there now all eagle eyed! And see a lot of small bird movement. And then a movement catches my eye! It’s another bunny just below the chalk, so im on mildot under 47yds THWUCK missed again. It was the wrong yardage!! now I wasn’t gunner let this get to me, quick reload and back down I went. This time a bunny came out at the right yardage 42yds THWACK!! Down it went rolling and straight in to a hole. So up I was like “linford Christie†out of the blocks with out me lunch box! and got to the place where I hit it, and there is six holes AAARRRGGGHHH!! But it didn’t take long to find it; I could see its cotton tail sticking up about a yard down the hole, so a nice long pull and out it was. this where i took the shot from and this is from where it landed, you can make out my AA a close up! on the way back to the truck, i took some more pics.of some bunny activity. chaz and i agreed to meet back at the truck at 3:30pm and I had to head of .when I got back to the truck it must have been half an hour then chaz came over the horizon .and I could clearly see he was carrying a kill. So all in all a COLD! DAY But a good day out, despite the weather. So now the missus says, I have to catch up on the decorating! So see ya all in a couple of week’s lol pic's of happy hunters chaz and me,with my new neck warmer! Happy hunting Davy Quote Link to post

zini 1,939
I'm sorry to hear about the scope cam getting damaged Davy pal I feel sorry for you mate missing that first scope cam bunny but i know it takes alot of control and skill to be able to point the scope camera and rifle while looking at the screen and concentrating on making a clean humane kill. I found it hard today just making a 20 metre shot on a bottle top. Its alot harder than just shooting the rifle normally like most people do, and unless people try it for themselves they will think its just as easy as normal shooting but it defo isnt. Im sure next time when the cam is fixed you will nail the shot mate. Your a great shot pal so its just a matter of time Good shooting on the dead bunnies though pal Si Quote Link to post

Having not now been out since Saturday due to the inconvenience of work, I'm beginning to feel a bit cooped up! Your permission looks like a great spot as well! Better luck next time with your Scope cam. I'm looking forward to the footage! Quote Link to post
