Tobias 0
Went out for a few shots with the Remmy 700 sps 223 today just to keep my eye in good job too i was shooting about 3" to the right for some reason at 150yrd,Also for some reason 6 of my bullet cases were hard to eject and the bolt would not pull back the empty cases to eject,Still using the same ammo would it of been down to the cold or could it be a bad batch of ammo. They are Remmington accu tips 50grn these are the only bullets ive ever use ive not had this problem before. Quote Link to post

I would doubt whether the cases are a different size than your usual as most factory chambers are on the sloppy side, So.......is your chamber spotlessly clean (not your barrel) as it sounds like over time burnt powder can build up in the chamber to cause this. You really need a calibre specific chamber brush and scrub the chamber with your usual barrel solvent and dry it out as you would with cleaning your barrel. Sometimes there are quite severe scratch marks on the case that you had difficulty in ejecting. Secondly is there any gunge where the lugs of your bolt engage with the breech? Thirdly is your bolt face (where the headstamp engages) 100% clean? - Thats all I can think of at the moment!! Quote Link to post
Tobias 0
The bolt head and lugs are clean apart from todays use but there is a very small amount of dirt around the chamber were the lugs turn when cocking the bolt,i have had scratches on the empty cases before but they have ejected ok.Thanks for the reply. It's difficult to diagnose a problem like this without seeing the problem first hand but the usual reason for hard to extract brass is overly high pressure. More info is needed though; how many rounds did you fire in total? Were the six the first six, last six or random six? Have you recently cleaned the rifle? Did the rounds all come from the same box - if not did the boxes have different lot numbers on them? Do the six sticky ones look any different to the rest? The cold isn't likely to cause sticking brass - if anything it's less likely to as cold temperatures lower chamber pressures, rather than raise them. However, perhaps you have had ise forming in the chamber or barrel due to the rifle being taken from a warm house to cold outdoors and having moisture condense out on then freeze inside the barrel or maybe you had ammo which which was a different temperature causing it to do the samer when shoved into a warm chamber? As I say loads of possibilities. Difficult to see which one is the real culprit though. J. Quote Link to post
buck52 0
Are these reloaded rounds, if so your cases are too long or your headspace is wrong. Quote Link to post

Tobias 0
Sorry for the late reply my computer has been playing up but im back,it was six cases that stuck after i had shot 3 in a row at a target i cant remember if they were from the same box because i took the last 4 from 1 box and a handfull from another. when i got back to the car the temp was reading -4oc,but as stated they are factory ammo and i dont use anything else as these have always been good for me.ive not been out with it since my last post and am having trouble finding a chamber brush any tips welcome.Thanks.
