misty your just a complet idiot of a man. so what your saying is people shouldnt sell pups. away and get your head checked. if a ever bred any of ma dogs one would be getting kept back and the rest would be getting sold or if a family member or a close friend wanted they would be gave one. people have been breeding dogs for years and there top breeders all over scotland selling the best best field trial champion lines. what should they do just breed there field trial champions and just give them all away rather that get 600 a pup. a know what anybody with half a brain would be doing. uve just jumped on the huntinglife band wagon preachin about puppy pedlars. this man asked a simple question so he could get some opinions of other people and hes getting slaughtered about being a puppy peddlar. get a grip of yourself and go and walk the dogs instead of running about like a wee sweety wife.

if the bitch is proven( for whatever you want her for) to a standard you are happy with and is healthy then why should you not breed from her?

i would want her to be 24 months if not 3 years old( then she is fully grown,bones hard etc) and she will have shown her true colours( she may want to go to ground every five min and not be any good to you )

i understand your reasoning bud. if the bitch is not fully developed then he should wait. missing the opportunity of using the sire would in my eyes be better than harming the bitch. admittedly she IS capable of pupping well before 3. she will be more mature(mentally and physicly).

maybe, BUT i love the way he works and responds for a terrier, people want a pup out of him too, if i get a pup from someone else how do i know that its not gonna go to ground at every opportunity or work so far away from me its useless. i know if i get a pup out of my dog and a bitch that can work the same im gonna get a pup thatll give me years of fun rather than it bein on a lead all the time or stuck in the house because its useless to me.

I would waite till its on its second time in heat and then breed i have done it in the past only with my springers as a good bushing dog has usualy proved itself at a young age in other words if their working cover well at ten months they carry on working well the rest of their adult lives old age permitting.atbdell

Seen some good bloodlines getting lost due to waiting till next year.No one likes to take a good dog out of the running when its doing well.Its up to the owner.If you want a pup off a good bitch do it.At the end of the day its your dog.Pups from good parents will go in no time.and if you have good friends you wont be selling them

This is a very interesting thread. The bitch you are on about breeding from was for sale on here a couple of months ago. She was been sold as untried and had come from KG to a friend and she would probably make it. I was keen in her but they wanted 250 for her....... If you want advice on breeding you ask a friendly vet not a forum.

well said speek to your vet put anything on here thats not an earth dog your guna get slated so why dont people agree with seling surplus pups what else you guna do drown um not causing a stir but dont post much on this section as its just seting your self up shame really all the best with your WORKING TERRIER IN THE working terrier section mate. freind of mine had a 14 year old jrt hobled along at a snails pace but get him in the bushes he was like a rocket
