JonathanL 4
hi all i am looking for some help on reloading some subsonic rounds for a .243 if any one knows of any data or had any experience please let me know thanks The Lyman cast bullet book will likely give data for this. However, sub-sonic ammo in a .243 won't be the greatest things in the world. You are going to need to use a small amount of fast burning powder in a relatively large case which will probably give rather inconsistent results due to it moving around. One way to do it could be to pack the case with something in order to keep the powder against the base. J. Quote Link to post

AB TAC 0
good luck mate but be bloody carefull you dont want one jamming half way up the spout Agreed, I use polystyrene drum shapes to hold the powder against the primer hole for my 9.5 x 57mm, though I haven't a clue how to get that big a piece of polystyrene through the neck of a 243, it somewhat reminds me of the gynecologist who wall papered his hallway through the letter box, Anyway one solution might be to use some of that very thin polystyrene sheet you can get, normally about 1 mm thick, cut it into small squares and push that in with a rod, so the powder is trapped behind a seal, then add some polystyrene balls on top as a bulker, i would be really careful trying it out though, and quiet honestly I cant see the point of a subsonic 243, it rather defeats the point i would have thought. njc110381 0
I've heard of people using really thin brass tube from a model shop, cut off to just short of the case shoulder and then Epoxy resin fill the case around the tube so the primer flash goes up the tube to the powder. It's a lot of work but onkly needs doing once. I think fire formed brass is best. Quote Link to post
