I never feed a dog before work.

Eggs are a valuable source of protein, but should be lightly cooked by cracking them into hot water, and letting them stand for about a minute, until the egg whites start to turn white.

This destroys most of the avidin that binds the biotin in them.Eggs will not. make a dog loose, but too many can have the opposite affect.

I used to give a dog a couple of eggs after a hard days coursing, cracked in a cup with hot water on them,it assists in muscle protein rebuilding, and the hot water helps the digestion of the eggs without damaging the protein and nutritional content of them.

Now, with the cold snap I put a couple in with rabbit giblets and any veg left overs ,a drop of gravy granules and cook up a porridge ,then pour over their grub.

hi all

the reason people only feed the egg white is because its all protein the yolk is the calories etc thats why body builders will only eat the egg white too.

spot on this man you must kill the avidin that binds the biotin :toast::thumbs: i would not do gravy granules to much salt mate

I am careful not to put much in their grub, just a flavouring.

I learned a little on the subject of eggs from Veterinary Advice For Greyhound Owners, by John Kohnke, he really knows his stuff.

Never cook my meat boss, but found a cooked egg is much easier for the dog to digest..

My dogs eat raw too ,rabbit mostly ,that has been frozen for 3 weeks, I cook the giblets up to make a gravy to pour over their dinners during the cold weather, plus two of my three do not like raw lungs livers etc.
