j davies 8
My partner is a bit puzzled about his 9 month labrador, supposedly purebred. However, she bellies like a spaniel when asked to sit and stay, has a very long body with shorter legs, and VERY long fur, especially around her neck and back end, though all along her body it's dense, thick and longer than a lab's usual coat. We first noticed this in July as she began to get older,so don't think it's just a winter coat. The breeder we got her from has cockers, and had a litter of working golden retriever pups at the same time...although doesn't own a male golden. Just like your opinions on the pup and see what you think before we dive into DNA testing etc. how you getting on with the dog mate any news Quote Link to post
ruthi 0
We're going to get a DNA parentage test done as we've now seen other dogs from the litter, and they look full labrador! Possible second lining...? The breeder said she was 90% sure this couldn't have occurred but worth checking just in case. Thanks for all your help on this! how you getting on with the dog mate any news Quote Link to post

Coyotehunter 689
I'd just wait for the DNA test to come back, it will tell you if there's anything else in there, like the previous poster said if you like her and she's coming along good what difference does it make if she's unconventional looking. if the DNA comes back as full lab its not the breeders fault it looks the way it does, unless they guaranteed a show looking dog Quote Link to post

darareilly 0
Another picture... there was an article in one of the shooting mags, last summer i think it was,a guys lab pups were born black & tan with the same markings as a doberman,he couldn`t register with the KC because of the colour without getting them dna tested, the results came back as pure labs. but i think he`s not allowed to show them but can run them in working tests, if i find the mag i`ll put the pic & article.
