Maybee in some cases the kerry is a biteing machine, if the person who owns it has no expierience with dogs,,,,the rule is socialise.

Sure the kerry may not have been the best dog breed at the testas mohr trial of ireland,,,but he was there,, and at the height of its popularity completly dominated the irish dog popularity in a day when nobody wanted a dog if he was not game,,,, acompanied text by Michael F Morris

Yes thats what most breeds have been doing for a while, breeding for looks..........The thing is, even so i know of show staffords that go IN, same as English bull terriers,,,,totaly show line,( one in particular bred by an old lady). Of course if your into absolute 1ºsporting dogs,, only 3º genration proven game stock is what you are looking For. And American Pit Bull Terrier regins suprem in all types of blood sport.

Comeing back to reality and for pet companion, al bull breeds and the irish terriers if true to type,, have suficient caracter to give you a headache if left to run free and play with other dogs in the park

Kerry blues are curs, they dont like taking punishment so lack heart......and thats ALL THE BREED.Ive seen them with my own eyes on numerous occasions so am not copying from some stupid book written by some person that cant be persuaded to see the truth....just like antis.Liam Delaney I believe has SEEN first hand the K B in action...or lack of.Just take on board the help and information you recieve here.THEY ARE CURS,DONT BOTHER EVEN THINKING ABOUT THESE DOGS.bushranger we cant all be mike tyson? Why breed or consider such an animal then when better stock is available?the oly way Kerrys dish out the pain is if they know they can,if they get pain back they flee/shit themselves,ie:CURS. Chappy030 disregard this breed unless your a fantasist and want to waste a few years of your life and open your options for something better. No doubt theyd make handy rabbit dogs crossed with Greyhounds but Bedlingtons do it better so WHY GO THERE? :icon_eek: PADDYDUBKELLY has seen them and told you of their carry on,KIRSTYSDAD has told you,SCENT has offered his opinion and your not paying attention and all these blokes are IRISH and HAVE experiences with these horrid little shits and your not listening so why ask in the first place then?Best of luck in your search mate,JIGSAW

well I have a 7 month old kerry bitch, in my opinion she is a very soft sweet bitch, nice for a pet, and am absolutly sure she could be a good rabit dog,but 90% she could not do a badger. I Know of 2 kennels that have bred multiple breeds, for show. The kerrys are the toughest, with accidents happening were the dog grabs another and had to be choked to let go. So one day in ireland kerrys and wheatons were used as all perpose dogs with gameness and fighting in mind. Both breeds have game over for dog fighting, against sporting staffords and pit bulls with superior power they break them down. wheatons as a breed are puff balls if you want to vs true fighting breeds. Sure i,ve been told in Ireland, their is reminence of wheatons that are as game as they where, if you look at the breed everywhere else they are lovable house pets. All these Irish terrier breeds as a whole are tough, the genes are there.

You want to profesionaly fight your dog, do ilegal badger baiting buy a game pit bull terrier, if not the rest might satisfy.

so i take it bushranger you are baseing your opinions on your experiences with a 7 month ols bitch.Your bitch could be a good rabbit dog no doubt but they were supposed to be tough guys, you dont need a tough dog to tackle rabbits .I saw more than 1 kerry work a stop end many years ago and 1 would take hold ONCE it found a safe catch,he would wait till his oppertunity arose to rush in with out geting bit.Another I saw was working well till it took a bad bite and then decided to bark at the game.Another I saw tackle a wheaten and paid dearly for it as it squealed its ass off trying to escape the jaws of death. Most KC dogs are far removed from their original state these days, reduced to a sinfull example of what they were.Anyway enough debate,KERRYS ARE CRAP,end of.Glad your happy with yours, best wishes JIGSAW.

Jig, my experience of dogs is pit bull and staffs more or less, As i said my bitch is very soft, cant compare, but jig you just cant say the kerry isnt a b*****d, when all the dog breeds that did the testas mohr trials where the biggest b*****ds in the dog world. So maybe he come down from being the most popular irish sporting dog of the 1920(that is dog history, a fact)to having its irish strains ruined,,,only being a little b*****d know,,,,or a big if they bite you in the ass
