Good Lurcher book

Recommended Posts

read them all and more than once still enjoy rogues and running dogs but my three favourites are running dog addiction gazehounds and coursing by salmon and stanfords press coursing a very good book as well is charlie listers on greyhounds charlie is the king as far as racing greyhounds go and this book goes right back to his coursing roots andis very imformative on conditioning a running dog well worth having on your bookshelf if your in to running dogs of any kind. also a really superb read is rich without money the true account of a mans struggle to keep his family by flapping his greyhounds all the tricks and ploys used greatread and better still all proceeds of the book go to a charity very close to his and his families heart .

Lurchers and Longdogs was a great read for me. I think i paid about £12 for it at a gamefair back in my teenage days. I can remember my thrill of reading about the saluki and the gazelle. I can picture the photo now. It is a book i would recommend highly along with A Mouchers Tale and A Poachers Tale. :notworthy:

As a youngster i had an insatiable appetite for any prose concerning lurcherwork but i never had any money,i was the typical skint lad, with my part time job paying me the heady sum of 75p an hour....but i still never regretted shelling out for the Walsh book.....JD

i agree that most of us young lads find Darcy books more enertaining

but it is hard to find any other books that arn't just recycled over and over again e.g jon hutcheon's 'the lurcher' is made of up of countrymans weekly quotes and he runs rabbits using a big deerhound which isn't great advice!
