-=Magwitch=- 29
Have done my fair share of digging lately it seems to be bolt one dig one........................... Quote Link to post
ferret110 27
Its probably because they have started breeding they bolted fine for me this morning Quote Link to post
Jamie93 57
I don't think you'll find it is beacause of breeding. I have had the same trouble lately with rabbits being very reluctant to bolt. Just put it down to the bitter conditions. Happy Hunting Jamie93 Edited January 1, 2010 by Jamie93 Quote Link to post
netfull 0
Yep its happening to me too,dug 5 out earlier on in the week, making the use of nets irrelevant,as ferret 110 says it's probably down to breeding, guess the season is on the back foot now, an old hand told me once that it will be mostly Does that occupy the burrows at this time. Netfull. Quote Link to post
netfull 0
While we're on the subject can anyone define the rabbit breeding season,in the case of the ferret, producing hormones is it brought about by hours of daylight?or as some say the cold weather, Quote Link to post
Brimmer 220
As the season draws on you'll probs find less and less rabbits will bolt. They get cute and soon learn they have the better of a ferret. Chances are any that saw the ordeal through wont bolt again either, having taken a scalp. Spade at home, shame on you! I'd have thought that if a rabbit managed to get away once by bolting then it will have learned that it is the best way to escape and so be MORE inclined to bolt than other rabbits? ryan123 0
While we're on the subject can anyone define the rabbit breeding season,in the case of the ferret, producing hormones is it brought about by hours of daylight?or as some say the cold weather, according to my missus rabbits can breed all year round as a menstruel cycle lasts for 28-30 days so in theory thats a litter a month. atb ryan123 Quote Link to post
James Doyle 59
i think the rabbits are bolting better than ever this year we havent had to dig much at all Quote Link to post
fensaluki 35
i think the rabbits are bolting better than ever this year we havent had to dig much at all Same here mate.hardly any digging up to yet this season.Did have one yesterday but to be fair it was my mate being a bit to keen on the spade,3 and a half foot on the locator got to just over three foot just going to prick it with the "T BAR" and out he pops although he had been well payed by the ferrets. Also two weeks ago we bolted four rabbits from a little five holer and only one of them could have been much bigger than half grown. are these rabbits dead that are being dug to? I know many of you guys prefer jills to hobs but if they are not moving them properly maybe worth a go.(just an idear) atb Quote Link to post
