SeanTheHawker 0
been waiting a few weeks now for the perfect night to get rolf entered on the lamp, and no was no moon to be had last night, with a strong wind. last year i tried rolf at the end of teh season, but it was in the snow, and was at rabbits that had gotton to smart to stay around lol. Weighed in at 1lb 6.1 oz Arrived at the hunting ground at about 12.15 and headed out. crossed a gate and had the first shine of the night, within 30 yards was a rabbit with a little white marking on its throat, rolf chased it immediatley, but backed off into a tree, the thing continied to run and he swooped for it again, this time striking it in the back, but not holding it. eventually the lucky bugger made it through a hedge to safety. continued to scan the field but unfortually what rabbits we did see, rolf didnt chase, and when i got closer and fliked it on again they were gone. went into the next field, and walked up the hedgerow, there was a nice one sittign well out so i walked up to it with the beam still on, and when it started to move rolf take chase, but steering off them. continued through that field and had some similar flights, and few he steered off from, and a few that hit cover before he got near. because i was on my own, sometimes rolf was blocking the beam which was why he may have been steering off. anyway up further up to the next field, at this stage with almost water in my eyes with the wind and seen a rabbit about 20 yards from a hedgrow, walked up and rolf took chase, it hit the hedge, but so did rolf! I ran thinking rolf had caught it, when i seen a rabbit running straight for me, down teh hedgrow, with ralk up its back. tried making a few noises to get the rabbit to move and maybe head out to the open, but it didnt, the bloody thing almost ran over my toes, and i turned to catch teh beam on it again as it continued down the hedgrow, rolf was still chasing and and eventually he droppedon it. ran like the hammers hoping he had a good hold on it. he had both feet to the head and the bunny was going nowhere. let him have a big feedup on it and then headed home. great start on the lamp and a great flight too, considering people think theres very light sport on the lamp.
