billbroon 9
How much of yous decoy pigeons with your air rifles and what patterns are best to use with the deecs. Any tips and pics would be great. Theres not any good cover where the pigeons are feeding and it would be far to easy to blast away with shotty. thanks billy Quote Link to post
kev1986 0
i normally just use 2 or 3 in any pattern about 20 yards from trees and they seem to fly over and land in tree before going on ground and [bANNED TEXT] in tree take them out other than that put some green para cord on them and attach up trees and otherts will come in again only 2 or 3 atb kev Quote Link to post
silentshot1 206
I put out 12 (the amount in the pack of shell decoys!) 7 or 8 on the ground in a U or V, with a 12 foot gap between the sides of the pattern and the others in nearby trees! Learnt the trick in Pete Wadeson's book and bagged 8 this afternoon. As Kev just mentioned, I don't think you need that many but it's what seems to bring them in for me. I don't get a lot landing on the ground but the trees seem quite busy! Quote Link to post
sibaldib 6
I think with air rifles, the best bet is to watch for a couple of days and mark out their sitty trees. They will often land here before dropping down into the pattern. If you can position yourself, well concealed, somewhere near the tree you can pick them off from there rather than wait for them to drop into the pattern. I've never been very successful, but was pleased to see silentshot1's write up on another thread detailing his success. Cheers Sib Quote Link to post
