wilson4347 5
Hello all I am new to this forum and quite new to ferreting, i have a ferret who i have worked on a couple of places where i have permission, however i have taken him to a new place this week. He has been working the smaller warrens fine, however theres a big sandy bank with many holes and he will not go down and i know it is home to many rabbits. any ideas? thanks Quote Link to post
moses 5
how do you know they are home??? Quote Link to post
wilson4347 5
Im not positive that they are home when i go but they are definately uing the warren, he just goes in to the first turn and then comes back, He is only a young hob, could this be part of it? i am new to this just learning from advice on net, but have been bagging a few so far. He just wont entertain this warren, i would like t run him with a more experianced ferret but dont know anyone else that shares this interest. thanks Quote Link to post
moses 5
to be honest if he is working over warrens well aprt from this one sounds like no ones home give him a few more trips out at different places then try him again on this one and see what happens Quote Link to post

The one 8,469
If its a young ferret it wont be going deep enough to bolt the rabbits and if its a big place you will need to use more ferrets or you will be all day waiting on one ferret bolting the rabbits mate Quote Link to post

andy_browning 0
Thanks for all the advice, i was thinking off getting a jill, maybe i should be looking for one a little older to work along with him? anyone around the yorkshire area with any up for sale? thanks Stick to the smaller sets this season as just gaining experience for you and the ferret, and I usually find that by next season the young ferret's come on 100% in ther second and just keep getting betta,i kept back 2 polecat jills this year and looking promising but alwayz take atleast 1 experienced jill along, usally ther mother! good luck Quote Link to post
