Ticks

Recommended Posts

I was giving my dog a pat last nite before bed and I noticed what I thought was a spot on his muzzle. I had a look and found a few more and soon relised that they were not spots but rather ticks instead. Anyway I took him to the vet this morning and they sold me some frontline and a green plastic tick removing device. They are all very small so I am guessing he has caught them from the 2 rabbits he caught on wednesday and thursday night. How unlucky can you get. The vet said I should get used to seeing them if I am going to be working him so thats that.

Just one more thing, :censored: Argh you f*****g b*****d c+@+>+@g! Thats for the ticks. :11:

Just had the same thing lurcher bitch and terrier pup absolutely smothered with the little f*ckers ,i was out lamping the other night and the bitch was rolling in sheep shit so i guess she picked them up from the field frontline and vaseline should do the trick. had one in the back of my leg once, panicked pulled it out and left the head in, not nice! :(

:good: Decent vet then? Good for him. I'm given to understand these little Tick Tools are the mutts too. 'Mind you, popping down to 'Pet City' would probably shave the price down? Also, I'd check out a place like ~ is it? ~ " VetMedicUK dot com " for ye Frontline (Drontal, what ever else). I always get my Drontal+ from them and they're excellent. Saves ye paying for a schoolgirl in a white coat to hand them to ye ;)

Ticks, by the way, hang about in long grass. They lurk there and hop onto what ever's passing. B*stards. Be wary of them. They DO matter, big time. Especially as we're now seeing some foreign types that can kill a Dog stone dead in no time. I'm perfectly serious.

Check out the " Tick Web Ring ". I suspect it's on Yahoo? Google should get ye there.

:diablo: They are bad news D/S your right and ignore them at your,or your dogs peril. There are lots of old wives tales on how to keep them at bay,i believe the garlic one works but not for all dogs, best thing is to inspect your dogs regularly and deal with them when you find them. :thumbs-up:

I took one of my terriers with me to the highlands of scotland last year and he got covered it was my honeymoon we were just walking etc and he got them all over him its realy bad up there with the sheep and deer etc, and i kid you not i got a tick on my bollock! i noticed it when i was going for a jimmy we were staying in a holiday cottage, i called out to my wife and she thought it was hillarious. She removed it with tweezers! id had a couple of beers so saw the funny side. Down here in kent foreign ticks have hit the headlines and a couple of dogs have died. all the best

f**k me! I did not know they could kill. Why dont things like wasps kill ticks because lets face it they do nothing for us do they? All annoying insects should be trained to kill for our purposes. I am going to breed a tick killing insect and sell them on ebay! Ha Ha

Ticks, yeah bad year for them up here, I had three oh the wee busturds on myself last week-end, partner had to do the needle job to get the heids oot, got to watch out for the lymnes, so don't just check the dogs, check yourselves as well an if you get a tick and the bite turns red and has a hard lump, docs for a jab I am afraid
