Only going on how old my terrier was when she had her first season which was around the 6 months mark , but there all diferent i reccon i suppose it could be a possibility as i have never had a bitch before only dogs labradors so i guess it could be that will have to wait and see generally they are fine its only been the last 2 days as i say this is mt first running dog so my mate will ahve to keep his eye on them until i get round the missus to let me bring her home lol Quote Link to post Share on other sites

It is not just the physical damage that can occur but mentally too one or both of the dogs can be affected badly. The one that is the most agressive will learn to be dog agressive, which is hardly what you want in a working dog which may at some stage have to work with dogs it doesn't know. And the one that is coming of worst may be ruined and either turn into a gibbering wreck or turn very nasty with other dogs: a case of I'll bite you before you try and kill me! Split them up permanently before it gets any worse as both being bitches it will get worse, a lot worse as bitches are known to be much more spiteful and grudge bearing than male dogs. brosco 2 Posted December 31, 2009 Report Share Posted December 31, 2009 Hi all Can anyone give me some advise been hunting with hawks for 14 years birds now retired so i have bought a 5 mth old 3/4 greyhound 1/4 wheaten it is the sister to my mates dog same litter. they are kenneled together all has been fine took them out yesterday and a run round turned into two full blown kickoffs. we separted them and all seem fine again put them in the car and they started again so mine now has its first war wound on front leg my mates must have had her good and proper. any way put them back in the kennel and apart from a growl all is fine is this just a battle for domination or is this likely to continue.should we run them separately etc any advise would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance pete HI MADMACKIE, YOUR DOGS BEEN PUT IN ITS PLACE, IVE SEPARATED THEM, AND TUCKED IT UP IN A QUILT WITH A HOT WATER BOTTLE AND READ IT A BED TIME STORY - WATERSHIP DOWN, HER FAVE HAHA!!! CHEERS IN ADVANCE. in my opinion only mate, i would rather wait till the dogs are 12 months old, 7 months is far too early and could easily waste the pups, get them out learning just now, jumping, retrieving, broken to livestock, all the basic training skills and when they are steady at all this, get them into action but my own pup wont see anything till he is a year old atb with them mcass123 Quote Link to post Share on other sites
