Do you pick it up?

Recommended Posts

I always pick up at the park, on footpaths, at the beach etc (except one time when Fly walked halfway up her legs into the sea to go - I don't think I'd have found that one!). The only place I don't pick up is in our fields at the stables (unless Fly goes inside one of the stables!) as it's private land and I've been told not to bother.

It pi**es me off when I have to keep telling my wee boy to watch his feet at the park, I shouldn't have to do that. It also bugs me when people shout at me and my friends because we have dogs at the park and there is sh*t everywhere.

And yes, the thing about picking it up in a bag then leaving the bag - what's with that??? Some folk are really strange!

There have been some letters to our local paper recently about horse dung on the roads, it's not my problem as we don't go out on the roads anymore, but not so long ago gardeners longed for a horse to go on the road outside their house, now they moan cos they want their fertiliser to arrive sterilised and in plastic bags. The difference is that horse dung isn't dangerous to humans!

Your not trying to stick up for an animal shitting in public walk ways are you... wether it is dangerous or not, it still stinks, makes a mess of your shoes, your car and carpet.... And do you know anyone who has really been harmed by dog turd???

there have been many many posts on here by hunters who have had bother with horse riders and there horses(dogs being attacked, etc) so comeon dont think we will back horses up to go shitting all over the place... They are just as bad.

right so were all gunna get off our horses with a garden bag, pick the shit up and get back on and carry on riding with a huge bag full of shit, if you've ever tried riding carrying anything that heavy and bulky you would know how difficult it is.

Erm, I think, no I know, I said ROADS. As in the things cars drive on, not the things people walk on. As I said, I don't ride anywhere public these days, car drivers are too dangerous and think they own the roads. We have over 100 acres to ride in without encountering the public so its nothing really to do with me. As someone said, it just isn't possible to sit on a horse carrying a shovel and bag of crap, and I can't remember the last time I saw a horse poo bin?

I haven't come across any posts about bother with riders and horses, I'm not saying they aren't there, just that I haven't seen any, the only bother I have ever personally had was a woman threatening to set her horrible little curs on my horse. However, as a dog owner of 16 years as well as a horse owner of 20 years, I can see both sides of that little argument, but that wasn't what this topic was about. And I think you'll find a fair number of horse owners on this forum so don't try to make it an us and them argument, perhaps those with trotting horses stop dead in the middle of the road if their horse goes when they're out?
