courseing in france

Recommended Posts

anyone on here got any idea if it would be possible to take courseing dogs to northen france, stay a day or2 get some permission run some hares then come home, would just like to know if it could be done, i live in e. sussex so the mileage would not be as bad as what i used to do when i used to travel to the fens, and for all the dover lads would be a doddle distance wise. usud to buy abit of tobaco over there years ago and would count 50 to 100 on the way down on big big rolling fields that go on for miles, no flint or chalk just nice black earth no livestock mostly agriculturl

Well hare coursing is banned in france... yet it is also banned here!!

It would be very dificult to get caught there it is so vast, and sometimes you dont see anyone for miles and miles... on lush land.

The only thing i can say is you have done better than us at sighting them. used to travel all over france in the camper. And only ever came across one area in the dordogne valley that had a good number of them. A good friend of mine has a farm there in the middle of france. and he says rabbits are scarse and hares even more so... They do hunt wild bore there, with some good deer hunts thrown in also.

You can take your dog over no problem if you have a pet passport for it, micro chip and all jab's up to date including rabies etc. This will cost £150. The problem is getting it back into the u.k. I am sure you would have to have the dog inspected in france by a defra recognised vet and have it treated for ticks and worms no less than 24 hrs and no more than 48 hours before your return! It don't matter if the dog is already up to date with this in the u.k!!!! It still must be done!!!!!this means you would have to stay in france for a full 24hrs after treatment and also pay the vet 60 euro for the pleasure!!!!!! This is a real pain in the arse but ultimately should mean we don't get rabies in the u.k.
