Heard mike brown breeds good quality whippets but have no experience with his dogs im just learning the game but to be fair the whippet is a very under rated dog. greg Quote Link to post

GET THEM OUT (.)(.) 39
not striclty true, not all dogs that are started young yap, my bull bitch was started young never made a peep, , a friend whippet was started at 17 month, made sure he was EXTREMLY ! fit, gave him the very easyst of slips, , but still yaps, some just are born with it, Quote Link to post
Thomsons dogs 37
think some just do it cause they get to excited when very keen even though the can do there job better to keep a young dog away from one that does yapp as might think it ok to do this just my opinion t.d Quote Link to post
wuyang 513
My Whippet used to open up. He was carefully entered and not at a young age. I believe mine started opening up because of frustration, this been caused by only getting short chases in small fields and most of the rabbits going straight down burrows. He used to yip occassionally when the rabbit threw him off. I have worked two lurchers since and none of them opened up when chasing on the same ground. Quote Link to post
john rust 45
Ive a whippet that has done a bit (16 month) on the lamp and day time never a peep, BUT if put with a lucher/geryhound starts to sound. It fustration that it cant get there. So all I did is train the dog to take what its slipped on single no problem. As has been said before the dog is only as good as its training, no matter what breed you have. parkstone 24
most yap if over matched at a younge age, some just yap cos they are enjoying what they are doing, whippets are by nature a very vocal breed. Quote Link to post
