we think that by law you have to have your pups micro chipped before the vet should tail dock and dew claw them mine were done at 3 days old before the vet would do them is this right as some one said when you take them to have there first injection the vets do ask for the profe

its right around hear mate i have a gwp and her tail is docked vet wouldnt touch unless she had been microchipped and had the certificate to prove the docking was done legit so just goes to show that you can have problems like not been able to get injections if you carnt proved they are chipped and docked legit

I get my pups docked at 4 days old, the vet won't microchip at that age as they are far too small,

also there has been cases of the chip migrating when done to early.

Tail docking is stressful enough for the pup without sticking a great tube in its neck, this should be done when the

pup has gone to its new home.

ok lads/laddies i can see this is an on goin isue so i just had a look at the information i was given by my vet when i had my litter docked i will write this as it is written/ MICRO-CHIPPING it is a legal requirement that docked pups be permanently marked they are twelve weeks old It is an offence to fail to do so MICRO-CHIPPING is the only approved method of permanent marking. when the puppy is chipped, wich MUST be carried out by vet or supervised veterinary nurse, then the chip number is entered on the certificate. at that point any subsequent owner can walk into a vet surgery with a docked dog and have no fear that they may come unstuck the certificate prove the docking was lawful and the new owner will have nothing to faer. question is. Do you microchip the pup yourself or tell a new owner they must have it done before the the animal is 12 weeks old My advise- do it yourself. if the new owner forgets or dosen"t bother it could come back to haunt you as a breeder. hope this sheds some light on chipping pups

my pup came un chipped but was D & D. i spoke to a vet about it and was told that he wil not do chipping until at least 10weeks old as the chip tends to migrate around the body and end up anywhere. i put this to a few other vets and they all said the same thing.

Spot on

hello mate its marcort i have the spaniels for sale ive just been reading the mess and i dont think myself anyone really knows. Like i was going to do from the start im not haveing them done but i will be giveing the new owner the paper and telling them need to be done at some point so if they feel they want to get them done then its up to them. But more than anything they go to the very best home there is.

Once again thank you for your feed back, your help and your time happy hunting marc.....

ive had a few litters done and always been told that the breeder has got to get it done if you leave it up to the person who buys the pup and they dont get it done then you can get done , some vets wont give you the paperwork untill you have them chipped because the microchip number has to go on all sorts of paperwork and be kept by different people
