I shoot a 410 .22 and personally dont see how the newer 510 version can possibly be more accurate. My gun can shoot pellet on pellet at 45 yards, so you cant really get better than that for a legal gun.

The only improvements I can see are the cocking mechanism, which ive head very good reports on. Rather thant the bolt, its a finger operated cocking, which is much better. Also, i believe the 510 has a full length barrel shroud, so it should be quieter than a s410.

Whether or not those are worth the large difference in price between a 410 and a 510 is debateable. If i had the money im still not sure id "upgrade" to a 510. I know my 410 inside out and how it shoots. The only thing id possibly consider, is that because the 510 has pushed the prices of the 410 down, id consider buying a 410 .177 cheap to add to my .22

As jackinbox says the S510 has the newer lever cocking action, which many people prefer. It was first used on the FAC versions of the S410 because the bolt action was too difficult to operate.

However despite the shrouded barrel, you will still need an additional silencer for hunting, which needs to be taken into account.

Cheers
