help needed terrier fitting

Recommended Posts

could do with some sensible advice.i have a 6 year old patterdale who up until now has never suffered with any illness what so ever. yesterday he came in the house and stood wobbling forwards and back. then walked around real unsteady on his legs and fell on his side. i sat with the dog holding him and his head was shaking but his body was relaxed. there was no froth coming from his mouth but he kept licking his lips while he was fitting and his eyes were glazed over. after about 15 mins he came round stood up then threw up and then went and lay asleep for an hour or so. i kept checking on him and he seemed fine.when he woke up it was like nothing had happened he was his usual bouncy self.the dog has spent a lot of time to ground throughout his life and has had his fair share of knocks subsequently bit wary of taking him to my vet.anyone had the same sort of fit in their dog. he had nt eaten anything harmful or had any knocks before the fit.

Had this once before several years ago mate.the dog had had three days work out of four(I know this was a bit much before I get slated but it wasn't to hard work and I was young . I'm just being honest) Anyway I did take him to the vet as I have a very understanding one and he said it was down to his blood sugar level being very low.

He had been on antibiotics a couple of weeks before due to puncture wounds and my vet said this could have affected it.

My dog had a couple of weeks rest and never showed another sighn of trouble and I'm glad to say he's still with me today at over 13 years old although long since retired.

Don't know wether this is the same thing as your dog pal but I hope it helps

Sounds similar to what has happened in the past to my russel on two occasions. In the end all i could put it down to was i'd chucked some left over spuds and gravy from tea in his bowl, Dont think the starch in them agreed with him. Its been 5 yrs since it last happened. Don't know if it was, but he's never had a spud since.
